Have the selectors been unfair to V V S Laxman?

by IdontDiscriminate » Mon Oct 27, 2003 11:28 pm

V.V.S Laxman ia a very good cricketer with the class of Dravid and the aggression of Sachin. He has always played some good cricket whenever he was given the chance. He is the only batsman we can consistently rely on when to comes to playing the best teams in the world. His recent record also shows how good a player he is.Despite all this the selectors have always been unfair to him.He was dropped out from the worldcup team which was a shock to many fans.Even the selectors could not justify his expulsion. But when it comes to going abroad and playing test matches he is readily selected. Are politics within the selection board and the team affecting the choice of the selectors?Guys please send in your comments and opinions.

As a matter of fact , Board has done many partialities with Hyderabadi people. This silly Board has to be dissolved. I totally agree with the above two people.

Hello IDD,

its not only for that.. the previous match against Aus, VVS, scored a ton which was important to build the total, for that sachin had started with.. VVS certainly deserved the man of the match, while they gave it to Sachin because he had also taken a wicket along with his ton,,,, why this discrimination?? or they should have given the man of the Match to a bowler who took a crucial wicket.. do you also agree with me Mayavi!!!!

\"Man of the match\" is not given by board of selectors, is it?
I really dont argue with anyone in cricket related matters, to me anyone who scores well in a game is the man of the match (15000 Rs MoM is pea nuts for sachin or Laxman). India won, that too over australia, thats what matters to me.
Sweet revenge.
May the Fries be with you!

yeah true personally i feel the \'man of the match\' should have gone to kumble,..he was really brilliant.but sachin always gets the partial note from anyone.if your remember the match between india and australia in banglore like 7 years back(i dont exactly remember), we were chasing australia\'s 220 odd runs and sachin had made 80+ in that match however he got out when it was most required of him to stay there.it was kumble and srinath who played brilliantly and won the macth for us.srinath shud have been the player of the match but who finally got the award is anyone\'s guess!!!

That\'s the whole point of the discussion.the selectors have to be fair to the \'best\' 16 people in the country which they are not.

speaking simple science. Measuring the capability of an individual is like measuring the temperature of a solid body. it varies from instrument to instrument and location to location, even when it is the same solid. One might show, 100.00001, another may show 100.00007 and another 200!! all are possible. it all depends on who the selectors are and we cant do anything about it. ultimately u should understand that its POLITICS. hammayya :-)
