Happy Independence Day

by Kulcha Hyderabadi » Thu Aug 14, 2003 11:26 pm

Wishing you all a very happy independence day - 15th August. In the midst of festivities, let us not forget all those men and women who laid down their lives, went to jail and sacrified their comfort to fight for independence. Those brave men and women made it possible for us and our future generations to live free. Let us work together to rid our nation of corruption, bigotry, prejudice and hatred. Together we can do it. Jai Hind!

Good statement Mr. Kulcha, but nothing stops with simple words. All youngsters of our country should serve AT LEAST FOR ONE YEAR FOR INDIAN ARMY and that too, on the field. That will be the real salute to the country. I beleive some countries follow compulsory Army tenure for it\'s youth. My salutes to those serving in RR and other areas today.

Hum laaye hai toofan se kashtee nikalake, Is desh ko rakhna mere bachon sambhal ke ! wow! hats off to our elders for such a message left for us.There\'s this song by mahendra kapoor from .. kabulivala, I think.. it goes something like this.... \'choomn loo uski zuban jispe ayya tere naam, sabh se rangeen subha teri, sabh se rangeen teri shayam , tujhpe dil Qurban, tu hi meri aarzu tu hi meri abhru, tuhi meri jaan\'. Just say/sing it along and feel it! feel the words touch you within, deep in there, somewhere in your heart, nai? did you ? I did :) and tears are rolling down my cheeks for I am missing my country, now. Jai Hind !

Naa... Not by Mahendra Kapoor but by Mannadey, for the film \"Kabuliwala\" - I guess I was in the 4th grade when the movie was screened in our school\'s auditorium. I couldnt quite understand it but when I saw it again few years later, I was stunned! What a terrific movie and Balraj Sahini was just marvellous.
Tere daaman se jo aayee un hawaaon ko salaam,
Choom luun main us zabaan ko jispey ho tera naam
Sab se pyari teri subah, sab se rangee teri shaam,
Tujh pey dil qurbaan....
Maa ki dil bankar kabhi seeney se lag jata hai tu
Aur kabhi beti ki yaad bankey tarsaata hai tu....
Tujh pey dil qurbaan...Tu hi meri aarzoo, tu hi meri aabroo, tu hi meri jaan!
By the way, the song refers to \"Afghanistan\" as Ai mere pyare watan, ai mere bichade chaman... from where Balraj Sahini comes to Mumbai to work!

Sab jane school ko yaad kare, magar I remember the sweet packet which we use to get. Ek mithai ka tukda, ek chocolate, thoda chudva aur ek paper ka jhanda pocket pe lagane ke liye...

Oh, really? I have not seen the movie yet. I\'ve heard a lot about Balraj Sahani and his character in the movie and I was given to understand that he goes away from India! And wah! Kya baath hai, Kulcha bhayaa, kitnee khoobsurat hai is gaane ke bol, just what I feel for my country.
