Help or Donate or spend time with the countless needy orphan children on streets. Help a Blind person.. If you are really looking for something to make your life worth living,, they are many things that you can do..If you don\'t have money to donate then atleast spend time with the needy people...a quote from mother theresa...\'The most terrible poverty is loneliness and the feeling of being unloved.\'

Get enlightned dude...

The only reason of living can be you urself. This question shud arise only if you see urself as contempteous and deplorable. Do something concerete that shud raise your value in your eyes.

Is life worth living?

by UB » Fri May 30, 2003 11:14 pm

helping people is as pointless an endeavor as anything else in life.. here\'s why: you help someone with very dire problems in life (food, water, education whatever), raise their stature in life so that these basic problems are solved, what happens then? Are people who have enough to eat and drink happy? No.. they have a different set of problems. The real issue here is the sheer pointlessness of existence... we all pass time here time we die and then life ends.. nothing that we have done will matter anymore.
And please don\'t give me platitudes like the smile of a child and the sound of waves at the seashore. All this is really meaningless. Does anyone here think life has really changed in 5000+ years of human existence? People like Buddha, Gandhi and Christ have come and gone and man still kills man, life still goes in an endless spiral.
Whay wait? end it right now.. 10 years or a 100 its equally pointless anyway.
And yeah thanks for questioning my motives in posting this question.

I am not saying I know everything or anything for that matter but two and a half decades of living on this planet has me coming to the conclusion thats life\'s clearly pointless. Not just my life but existence as a whole. If someone on this board can convince me I will be glad. Sorry if this board depresses you. But then thats what life is sheer insidiousness beneath a veneer of glitter and deception.

Give me one reason why its not worth living. Then, lets try to balance the arguments. I am sure, everyone will chip in. To start with, I for one, doesn\'t see even a single why life is not worth living.

UB, go to a philosopher and learn meditation to realize what is \"myself\", \"why?\" and other questions that come to the mind of many people . u wont find answer from outside, the answer comes from within !! goodluck.

I have meditated, ruminated, cogitated and it has left me nothing but severely agitated. This is the answer I have come up with \"from within\" - that life is completely, totally pointless and the whole point is to discover this pointlessness and end it. Is that a paradox? I don\'t know...

well, we are all cogs in a wheel. u come, u go.. but the things u do(however insignificant it may seem to you) fall in place with the rest of the scheme. u throw some leftover food out, and u r the reason why so much life happens/survives (bacteria,bugs,flies.. what not). ur life, ur deeds are all part of a well oiled machinery (probably a bit rusted now). u r not to question the results of ur effort, or ur existance, for that matter. i think gita (the book, not some girl) preaches something to that effect. and finally, i dont believe a word of all the crap i just said.. :)

by why not smile n\' c what it cud make us » Sat May 31, 2003 1:32 pm

For the present, keep smiling, keep on smiling .. just for the sake of smiling. feel the facial muscles smile and smile a little more and feel that too. Just for a change. Dont meditate or read or think of anything else. Just smile for whatever length of time you can, with concentration. let me know what your observations are after this excercise .. the observations on your feelings about your smiling alone are welcome, k? do not even think what is the point of smiling, since anyways, u do not find any meaning in anything. Just smile :)))))))))))))

70% of earth is water, 70% of the human body is water. yet we cant survive in water. if we are to dominate the earth, we should be surviving in water and not on land. Paradox.......exactly, humans are the only species who dont live in peaceful existence with the surroundings. we tend to modify everything to our convenience. all this makes me beleive that humans are brought here by Aliens aka God aka our intelligent forefathers when our survival was threatened on another planet. Also, the aliens found that earth is the right place for the proliferation of the species, and brought the moon to correct the eliptical path of the earth close to a circular one, y add the moon ? coz the temperature diference would be too much if the path was eliptical. why else would only the earth have a close to circular path and rest of the planets havig an eliptical path ?!! now as u understand y man came to earth, i think it becomes clearer/easier to understand why he is doing all the stupid deeds hes been doing all these years. we just dont fit into the earth and salvation/liberation reaching God is all about our efforts to reach our home planet Heaven !!

man UB i think you are in a very bad psychological state. but doesnt make me any different than you.. there is nothing in life worth living and if you feel like it then end it.. but then remember nohting is going to stop for you.. no one is going to wait and say there was a fine man... (not that they do now..) please go out and find urself in this world.. dont do anything for anyone else , anything and everything u do do, do it for yourself, be the most greedy and the most pigheaded person around , but dont forget all this should not come to someone\'s loss... you will have a fuller life...

and, Pal? when smile does not come by itself? u go kill urself, wah! kya baath kiyyi aapne, yaar!! arre yaar, smile n\' c how that makes u feel ! and cry. literlly n\' c how that wud make u (n\' people around u) feel, too ! Smile, by concentrating on smiling when all you can think is about \'yeh life kya cheez hai\'. That will certainly make urs and everybody elses\' life around you that much more nicer.. not, \"arre yaar, yeh zindagi kya zindagi hai blah,blah.blah..\". so for starters U SMILE. sammjhe ? Buddhu?! Pal? :) u too UB. try it out n\' c. bade jab bolte hai to sunne ki aadath poori ghayab ho gai aajkal ke bachon ko! aur dekho kahan pohonche!!

by smiling away still feeling mischievious » Sun Jun 01, 2003 1:07 pm

Understandably, Pal ;) the mischief being on my part, that I am wiser, not necessarily \'badde\' in terms of age but on terms of wisdom (Borrowed some hyderabadi bhasha from my father\'s vocab..).PS: no, it does not sound awkward when I say, \'concentrate on smiling\'. Some People have this tendency of feeling \'low\', \'stressed\', \'depressed\', and finally suicidal when they feel they cannot find the meaning in life. smiling and laughing are some of the diversions which make them feel better. It is Proved. so, thot\' we can make UB smile and that by itself might make him feel better? hopefully? thot, I\'d try, what says u, UB? tried? hey, u do know abt\' laughing clubs, right? Infact, they have become very famous among the guys here, in california too. they r minting money on yoga and laughing clubs. its become cool to learn these among the highly stressed out guys n\' show off that they aren\'t stressed anymore. Love it.

Is life worth living?

by UB » Mon Jun 02, 2003 12:24 am

Hi All, firstly thanks everyone for your sincere responses to my question.
To pal:
that was indeed a good question you raised. Whether I am ready to die right now.. well thats the thing.. I would not have posted anything here if I was fully convinced that I was right about the pointlessness of life. Cold logic and reason tells me so, yet there is some part of me that raises its obdurate head, \"hope\" that eternal enticer - hope that someone here might prove me wrong, hope that If I live a little longer I might learn something or meet someone who/which proves me wrong. Hope has been, is and will be the elixir that sustains life on this planet. The one illogical component in an otherwise rational human being! The day my hope dies, I die.
To smile...:
Your suggestion has merits too. It is all too easy to make a person sad. Especially for me it comes naturally! Smiling puts people at ease and if it makes people around me feel better to see me smiling I think I can smile for that reason! Just as long as I don\'t overdo it and scare them!
So here goes- :)
