The best book ever written???

even I like Gone with the Wind...but it was supposed to b a romantic novel and I didn\'t find it romantic at all. My all time fav. is \"Of Human Bondage\" by Somerset Maugham
If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is - infinite.

Hey ,\"Of Human Bondage\" is one of my favourites too. But the book, I derived the maximum pleasure from was \"To kill a Mockingbird\" by Harper Lee. Now that\'s a classic, the simplicity, the innocence of growing up does have an undeniable universal appeal.

Sheldon??? His latest books are all highly recommended for insomniacs. I mean, they have the same old plots, drab writing... Gimme a break already!!! But if u r a Sheldon fan, check out his interview in Readers\' Digest... I think Jan/Feb, don\'t quite remember...

Recently read a book called \"Stranger in Strange Land\". Its about a guy called Mike who is born on Mars and raised by martians...and is brought back to earth. the intersting thing is that though he learns english, everything he thinks has the maratian background to it...e.g. he cannot understand why people on earth laugh...nice book to know our own limited thinking(in Earth context lol)...he even has a word called \"GROK\"...read the book to know what it means ;-)

Ooh! Tough one. I can\'t even pretend to be objective about this one. \"Cordelia\'s honor\" by Lois Bujold is definitely one of the best books I have ever read, but so are \"To kill a mocking bird\" by Harper Lee, \"My family and other animals\" by Gerald Durrell, \"I, Asimov\" by Asimov (duh!) \"The Gender Workbook\" by Kate Bornstein and \"It takes ovaries\" to name just a few.
I just spent half an hour trying to decide, \"what is the one book that I would choose if I was marooned on a desert island?\" I have finally come to the conclusion that were there an ocean filled with hungry sharks between me and my books I would risk it rather than live without them.

Midnight\'s Children, Catch-22, and of course, LOTR... Mocking Bird is a great read too... Maybe LOTR just has the edge...
