Hyderabadis are accident prone

by vrinda » Wed Mar 26, 2003 1:38 pm

Our CM is slogging his butt out to make this impossible task of IT enabling government institutions. All in vain. But the worse part is that Hyderabad is going from bad to worse in matters of civic sense and traffic disipline. It\'s the worst I have seen. Besides, many of my colleagues at work tell that Hyderabad has the worst traffic sense amongst cities that have relatively faster moving traffic. People drive like animals here, not bothering about signals. And to add to the agony is the black soot from buses and those bulky ambassadors. I want the mayor of this city to take a bike and drive from Panjagutta to Tankbund during peak hours - only then do I feel things will fall in place - and if not, then this is a bad government.

yeah...Ofcourse so did I. The govt announces for the pollution free environment by deploying traffic control polices. The break inspectors would catch hold of the vehecle drivers if they do not have a pollution check irrespective of whether the vehecle really produces smoke. If the driver has a pollution check certificate..then he would be left even his vehecle smokes a lot. HUH..shame on such people. Moreover, the govt vehecles like ambassadors, some rtc buses..etc..are the major sources of road pollution .. I wish the poeple wdo read this message would convey the same to the people (esp the R&B dept) around them. ...have fun

there goes the \"lady\" again.. bashing hyderabadis and hyderabad. :) but anyways.. all i see here are complaints.. i dont see any suggestions.. other than asking the mayor to drive on the road .. which itself may end up screwing up the traffic further. traffic discipline is something that has to be cultivated ... gradually. it cant happen overnight.. u follow the rules.. encourage ur friends to follow the rules.. and hopefully one day it will get around to the auto/bus drivers as well.

Mr srinu, tell us all what we don\\\'t know. I am not starting something allover again, if you think you are comfortable standing bang in front of a bus spilling smoke on ur ironed shirt, then i guess thats why hyderabad has this bad taffic system. Here people don\\\'t protest for anything, either they are all lazy bumbs or have a chalta hai attitute.HAd this been Kolkotha people would have burnt buses. I am told by my friend that Hyd has the highest fares in petrol, LPG, bus fares, sales tax. Whatever, this city would get ruined in terms being an intellectual place soon, if the primary image of a city is not keptup with and that primary image is the traffic sense, the way people drive. The roads are not all that bad here, although i am told it was horrible few years back. Govt. must have felt that reparing roads would solve the problem, but no. Still the problem pesists, why?. Because hyderabadies are the indesiplined lot. Why on the mother of earth can\\\'t you guys wait till the red turns to green?, are you guys gonna miss your bride who is waiting in the mandap or will you save the world?. Pathetic sense and i know i am gonna be bashed allover again and most would be because you are all guilty. You guys are responsible, not me, i just came.

I cant understand why are you after government and poor animals..animals wont drive BOSS..If so then what is the use of traffic signals and traffic police. Hyderabad has its own well designed traffic rules like elsewhere , but who will follow ? Not all but few hyderabadees break the traffic signals and go for a rash drive because they wannu chase the cuties like you which is quite ok for them. U know.....Compare to delhi, bombay and calcutta hyderabad is much better..To avoid pollution better we go for good old cycle(Not TDP) for short distances..like china. (No pollution + No Fuel Expense + good exercise). Not a bad idea..Atleast the young people can initiate this.

Nope,no way. I have been to both of these places, these cities handle twice as hyd handles in traffic density but atleast it keeps moving. Here, various people drive at different speeds. Huge buses and trucks always keep to the right!, then how the hell we need to ovetake?. See this \" king of the road\" atta-tood is running in everyone\'s blood. The tin crap so called 7 seaters throw smoke and those MCH garbage trucks they paint the road with their exhaust!, i don\'t see any \"PUC\" certificate there. Its a mess out here and no one wants act - i am talking about the government

thats a whole lot of hot air vrinda(or whatever).. i am not saying we shoulnt discuss this/talk abt it. all i ask is come up with some suggestions.. \"this is bad\" \"that is bad\" is all ok.. but what do we need to do to make it better... and ur \"suggestion\" that we burn buses like in \"ur\" kolkatta, is i guess, the best u can come up with. and for someone who has just come u seem very biased. hyderabad has just as many vehicles as probably other metros but u dont see the kinda traffic jams that u see (say in b\'lore for ex).. i know there is the occasional nut who thinks he is a hero for crashing through traffic signal just to be flattened by the oncoming lorry, but every city has its own share of nuts. com\'on now.. u know that hyderabad is a great place.. and we hyderabadis are great ppl too... or u wouldnt be staying here. btw, how abt a date?? :))

So what do you want all the people drive(Bullokcart,cyclist,buses-lorries,four wheelers) in same speed C-mon bosssss...this is india and all indians does not have a capacity to go for cars like in other countries. Govt. is trying its best but people shud understand their responsibilities. Think Govt is Blind and Dumb then what about you ?...Imagine in a narrow lane..A Bullokcart moving slowly followed by Govt. passenger Bus...which is again followed by 2-3 Cars..and few autos trying here and they are followed by 2,3 seven seaters n followed by a hug MCH LORRY CARRYING ALL hehhehe...and in between all these frequest cyclists and rikshaw pullers...Wah Kya Scene hai. Now tell me whose mistake is this for all this traffic jam.

Man, I can\'t understand what\'s going on in this forum. Some outsider comes in, goes around bashing Hyderabad, and we all have to be on the defensive side. Great!! Vrinda, if you have so many complaints about Hyd, why don\'t you leave for \'your\' Calcutta or Bangalore or wherever you think people are better flirts and drive better??
And GreenGoblin and Srinu, don\'t waste your precious time arguing with someone who just wants to kick up an argument. My friends in Calcutta were surprised at Hyderabad\'s beauty and splendor. We all know that no city is perfect but our Hyd is the BEST of them all even though it\'s got its handicaps.

well said TH, i was only hoping to get a date.. :)
anyways.. from the discussion so far.. the only thing i realized is that there must be far too few buses in kolkatta.. since they are all burnt for every \"serious\" reason.. and that would explain the \"minimal\" pollution.. (and its supposed to be one of the more polluted cities in the country... due apologies to my bengali friends). anyways.. i am sure once the MMTS is commisioned, we can expect better times for our city (with respect to traffic and pollution - fingers crossed)

Yes Srinu, and talking about bengalis and their highly impulsive behavior, you would understand why Eden gardens was blacklisted for cricket matches.. Burning buses for such trivial matters, haha.. Hyderabadis only flatten the tires or maybe break the panes if matters get too bad, but they\'d have brains not to burn buses for every small matter. Hyderabadis are cool people!!

Hey Miss Vrinda! It\'s easy to point out so many things, but when it\'s your turn they become harder!! We Hyds do know what we are good at. Instead of blaming the govt for all this, why don’t u come up with some good ideas?? So stop comparing and come up with good ideas. C\'mon, we are all Indians and it\'s worth a penny to blame each other for all these silly reasons. The best advice from me is please elect Vrinda as a special pollution controller officer. How is it Miss Vrinda?

With Vrinda\'s attitude, I am not sure if she will be happy in her married life - if at all she gets married. This is strictly a view of mine and my friends who read her ridiculous posts.

What\'s this outsider thing? Can\'t we take some constructive criticism? We have all complained and cribbed about the traffic and pollution all the time!! Don\'t just mindlessly block opinions you dont like! I for one who lived for 23 yrs in Hyd find the pollution deplorable.

I spoke about pollution and traffic disipline and suddenly what I read is that I won\'t be happy in my married life!!! How marriage frenzy are you guys possessed of?? Well, with this kind of traffic discipline there would surely be an element that would make my married life unhappy if I settle in Hyd, which I won\'t. But what\'s this attitude about?

Hi vrinda,
1. Please stop bashing Hyderabadis for God\'s sake. I know you are from Delhi. I am also from T Nadu, but have adopted Hyderabad and am attached to this place.
2. Why do you only blame only Hyderabadis? As if other states have tremendous traffic sense? Here in Hyderabad be happy - at least the road users dont abuse each other in the event of any rash driving. In Chennai/Delhi they curse you with filth...
3. Yes, I do agree some vehicles are polluting, but you also need too highlight the good things done by the Govt... See the road condition in Hyderabad, don\'t you get a smooth ride to your office and back home?? Chennai does not have this type of quality roads!

So please stop complaining about Hyderabad and Hyderabadis. For your information, I have lived in all the states, the best among which is Hyderabad. And Hyderabadis are so warm and cordial, so very understanding, you would seldom see this in any other state.

It is amusing to see these. Traffic sense is missing in most of the cities in India. Except may be Bombay. I see lots of scooters and motorcyclists overtake from all sides and suddenly drive before a car or bus, without realising how much damage they may cause. Again, when we are waiting for a green signal, all of you (2-wheelers) nudge forword in an awkward way without staying behind!!! Sometime ago, near Liberty, one girl on a scooter was behind me and she waited patiently for her turn to go forward after I moved ahead. I wanted to congratulate her for showing utmost patiance even though it took more than 5 minutes. I want to see most guys follow her and learn the manners of the traffic.

No, i wont agree with Anupama, coz half of mistake is ours and half of the mistake is the government\'s, so both are victims for the bad traffic. What do you say...?

hey vrinda,
nice to see some stupid message from u after that \"worst flirts\" thing...well, i accept if u say \"Indians r accident prone\" but why the hell is all the bashing against \"apunkaaa hyderabad\". Like someone said, we r 50% responsible for accidents. I say, it\'s more than 50%. The govt too is responsible but I don\'t think any wise guy will trust the govt. to make things better ( atleast somethings like the traffic and roads ). Now, my last word of advise, I don\'t give a damn to where u r from...Be Roman in Rome...as long as u r in Hyderabad, pls try to appreciate it\'s beauty, cleanliness and Biryani, \'cos when u move out, u r gonna miss it very much.
If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is - infinite.
