Well, the only change i can perceive is that hyderabad might have been heaven on earth as you put it, but now its perhaps the most polluted heaven there ever is in the universe

com\'on guys.. hyd is the best city in india. a well developed place with a great life that comes cheap. and i am not speaking as a \"local\" hyderabadi .... a lot of my north indian friends have moved here in the last couple of years and are planning to settle here..its not too fast.. nor is it a lifeless city.. just right. its very clean, recently a colleague had come from the US and after touring the country, he commented he finds hyderabad much cleaner than other cities(in india). it IS a heaven on earth, my rhim jhim, rhim jhim hyderabad. :)
and my answer to ur question would be - flyovers..that’s one thing that’s changed in the city.. a lot of flyovers have sprung up… or sprung across. :) of course, a few take off but dont land anywhere.. :) if u come to hyd in near future i advice u not to take the secretariat flyover. :)

hey vivek, check out the \"National Geographic,Nov\'2002\" magazine, they put a 3 page article on Hyderabad, describing it as one of the beautiful cities on Earth. they put cute pics of NTR garden and etc. To quote from the magazine \"From NTR Garden, Hyderabad looks like an urban Eden. Experts say achieving this vision worldwide will require wise governments, community action, and the striving of billions of people who have stake out claims in their cities\' future.\" not bad...huh!

avcouse hyd. is changed a lot..going advance in IT sector..building up green and buitiful gardens , parks , fly overs , treasure island, occean park , necklace raod , buddha statue., NTR park, Rama ji rao studio are the places must be visit. And all credit goes to Lt. NTR for and Chandra Babu Naidu..they have properly utilised the city., And the good this is though it is developed so advance yet its originality is still lies in each and every inch of this beautiful land. During my last visit I found the standard of living become little high , little costly than before, lot of traffic , and high tariff in electricity charges., but these things are manageable ., overall its good to see a well developed and original hyderabad.

by popesmokesdope » Sun Nov 24, 2002 7:27 pm

hahahahahaha, firstly there is nothig called as a \'typical\' cosmo culture. Secondly, cosmo always doesnt mean sophistication, rural ness infacts adds to the cosmo structure, tho\' a bit abberant. Thirdly, a city doesnt become a metro by its english speaking ability or \'phirangness\'. A metro status is awarded to city based on its size and population. fourthly, hyderabad is more \'cosmo\' than chennai. finally, go look into the dictionary for the word cosmopolitan...

I was in Hyd about 10 months ago... after a 4 year gap (in the US for past 12 years). ASTOUNDING is one word I have for it. Amazingly Amazingly beautiful. Yes, I couldn\'t recognize some of the roads (Now with 4 storey bldgs on both sides of the road... )... but still... there seemed to be a vibrancy to the city, it evoked fond memories of my childhood and carefree undergrad days. Fantastic restaurants, crowded roads (not bad for a nostalgic hyderbadi now used to multi-laned traffic in a clean US city), but manageable traffic. I got my Indian license in 30 minutes flat at the office opposite Vidyut Soudha! I just couldn\'t believe it. No one was asking me for money...

After about a month of vacation, I\'m back in the US now... but I know now that I may come back to Hyd for good... Cruise down on a bike, or on the top deck of a double-decker... or drive towards Gandipet and beyond... My old favorites are still there (Gokul, Shaanbhag...) a bunch of enticing new ones have sprung up - fantastic food. Oh, yes, there are ATMs everywhere, makes life easier... The new grocery stores (Food World was impressive!) are cool. The new malls are cool... Many of my favorite shops in Abids, Ameerpet and Secunderabad are still there... Many new ones have sprung up...

Hi guys, I haven\'t been to hyderabad since 1 1/2 years. But its not been that long that i can\'t judge the city. I know other cities are MUCH more polluted than hyd. for ex. New Delhi. And some parts of hyderabad are very polluted too. Hyderabad has changed in many ways but this doesn\'t necessarily mean that it has become more

CM has very generously given licences to rain dance clubs which has brought a sea-change to the hyderabadi culture.

I second you....I am back from a recent trip to Hyd. (I came back 3 days ago). When I was there, I was constantly critisizing the traffic, the way people behave, etc, etc..(you know all those talks and how we start comparing to the life here in US)...
But when I think about what I said...I feel ashamed I was DEAD wrong. You realize the VALUE only after you are away from it and that\'s how life for me over here is; I check the time here and think about the time in Hyd and what I was doing there during that time....what my folks would be doing now at this time....
I am missing all those restaurants, gallis, people, MY culture, etc....My last trip was one of the best trips to India; visited so many places; FOOD was simply superb.
I don\'t know how long those nostalgic moments are going to last....I wish they last so long that they will finally drive my family out of US to Hyd for good.....Hyd is the best PERIOD

How has Hyderabad changed

hyderabad has changed a lot in the last 5 yrs ,from a city to a metropolitan with its own charm .The roads are neat but traffic has increased .cool good resturants and more happenings all over the year round .Despite changing into a hi-tech city attitude of people has not changed from being affectionate which is rare in any other nmetro city.

ummm.. hyderabad !! the city.. its ours ! the people, the language.. the traffic.. especially the auto drivers\'.. the cyclists.. in the narrow lanes of abids or sultan bazar or of the old city.. the vegetable vendors calls ! the neighbors speaking to each other across the road.. the crossing of the road.. u just go.. its the pedestrians job to watch out.. oh, well, some of these did irk/iritate me immensely, more so keeping the practical aspects in mind, BUT.. hey, you get this only in hyderbad, yaar.. apnaa hyderabad.

Does any one remember the tree lined road next to the parade grounds and what our CM has done to it by building the flyovers. They could have built the flyovers perpendicular to the road and saved all those age old trees. I am always sore when ever I think about it. May be this is what happens if you were not born and brought up in the city where you live. There is no attachment to anything that represents the city for the common man and destruction is brought about in the name of development. Being a chemist, I am very much worried about all the hype about biotechnology in Hyd. and the waste that would be generated.
