GRE EEEKS!

by Aparna » Tue Nov 05, 2002 10:09 am

Lousy exam that it is... what makes it more lousy is the fact that it has become almost mandatory for any graduate to take up that exam... verbal and analytical almost suck the life out of you... anyways, don\'t you worry people... anybody in hyderabad who\'s preparing for GRE and has less than a month\'s time for preparation can contact me for some great tips! no fees, doing it just on humanitarian grounds - and trust my expertise.

Type of bread... A Hyderabadi speciality. Baked in clay oven and is great with \"Nahari\", another Hyderabadi speciality... Soft to eat and easy to digest!

hi aparna this is a great work ur onto. But for me, i think nobody can do best in GRE by preparing just for one month, except if he or she is exceptional. If u r confident that u can give some really good tips, then i think ur exceptional...

Hey lite(naxalite seems a little anti-social)and srinu.. thats the whole point..there is nothing so big deal about GRE ,infact one month of concentrated and diligent preparation is what is needed to crack GRE, not less and definetly not more!so anybody interested please contact fullhyd team and they shall forward you to me!

I can imagine what you are going thru.. learning bhajans actually helps but save them for later after you are thru with your exam..Hmm so ten wordlists..thats okay..just do three a day i think that should be sufficient(infact thats a lot)and with the new anal writing section ,writing two essays daily will fetch a you score of 4-5/6!and hey another thing dont take more than one test a day... this is how i went about taking my GRE and i managed to do well.

GRE prep in 1 month is a joke lol. no offense Aparna Z. sincerely. i took the exam back in paper based days. This is what i think.. start reading good articles, news paper etc etc.. and find the words that u don\'t know. learn the words to the context. its better than mugging wordslists (but simultaneously when the exam is about 3-4 motnhs crash the word lists and check how many u already know). u wont forget that easily. this also improves ur ability to read and write good sentences which may help in the analytical section (essays).
doing this from a year before (like when u r in 2nd, 3rd yrs in BE) makes GRE a easy thing. Finaly in the last two months or a month do only practice tests. and dont\' forget teh exam is a luck with the bonus or extra section. don\'t do silly mistakes in Quant section (thats where many losoe marks- try to score 800 or close). well saying that ideal way , if u have only a couple of months(you cannot get a date for the exam in a month), i recommend joining PROMAC coaching centre in Uppal X roads (near OU). Those 2 months sincere full concentration will make u better for the exam. all the best... general sugegstion :those who don\'t know typing learn typing in a type institue. in this computer world it always helps. better now than never..

well AV... like i mentioned before you could do about 2-3 word lists every day and write two essays daily- one on the topic and one on the arguement.just a week and a half before the exam , start taking tests... quant should be easy... i think you should be able to revise your quant while taking the tests.. concentrate more on verbal and quant coz offlate the univs are prefering good quant and verbal scores!

Hey Aparna,

Thanks for the tips. How do I choose the topics and arguments? Are there books/material out there that tell you the topics for the essays? Again, thank you for being so helpful

Cheers!

I guess you should go for the TIME material. I heard they were handing out flash cards ...which is really helpful....and IMHO do the wordlist randomly else u will remember the meanings as per the placements of the words in the list....and most imp of all pray or me.

you could go for the visu material... they are also giving the list of probable essay topics and have sample essays... i dont think one needs to go for any coaching... more than the guidance it is the number of hours that you need to put in... if you think you are disciplined enuf and can study on your own there is no need for any kind of coaching ..these coaching centres only pshyche you up and charge money for that, besides one can study more in those three hours instead of in a coahng centre.. rest is upto you

Hey Aparna,

You say Visu, Someone else mentioned Time material and I know ppl who use IMS material. The whole thing\'s kinda confusing. Is there any method to this [I mean, is there a way to tell who\'s material is the best] or just madness?
