I really doubt if still people these days are identifying themselves with the cine characters, and draw any inspiration outta them, but i hope devdas should succede for the money involved in it...also its time for our producers to dub there productions a]in other major languages of the world and make some real good money out of the films......time for bollywood to make a dent in the international entertainment industry

I hope the distributors make something out of their investment. The producer has made his dough. It is reported that 500 prints were sold at Rs.1 Crore apiece. I guess Bollywood is getting there. They have already made a huge impact in UK, South Africa and some Middle East Countries. Plus, the music casette/discs is a big business now. I am happy for the producers if they are able to make money from film production. Its a high risk investment and takes a lotta guts to put in all that money.

Bollywood seems to be heading in only one direction and that seems down. apart from all the hype we generate in our own country about our impact int the foreign market, the performance of so many movies at the box-office is next to depressing. How does one explain the 90% of all the movies made by our ppl has lost or marginally managed to make some money? However it seems the Powers that be have taken a serious note of the events. Recently there was a Meeting of all the prominent filmakers as to what to do with the present situation. Just imagine the scenario in which so much of money, man power and politics is being devoted into an industry which is not repaying any kind of dividends at all!!! ---(next para!!)---In the back-drop of all the \'dents\' we seem to make in theinternational market, i feel we are headed at some sorts of intersection. Film-makers can now decide whether they want to appease the Foreign market and make some money (much like what subhash Ghai has been attempting to do) and reap critical acclaim(much unlike Subhash Ghai!).The second option is that we conitnue to do what we are good at. We continue with our song-and-dnace routine and gradually work out some way to firmly postion ourslef into our own turf. Till then i just hope that our film-makers realise that they can\'t appease indians with candy floss romance, lots of bloody action sequences,slap-stick comedy, lewd songs all combined in one movie and claim it to entertainment for the whole family!!

ANd yes, personally i would like to see Devdas turn into the next block-buster. Much of my sympathy is directed towards Shah Rukh and Sanjay Leela Bhansali who have undergone Hell in their quest for such a grand movie. Two great idividuals with very differnet attitudes towards life but both with a burning zeal to something great. Irrespective of the b.o result i think these guys will go on and write their own Place in Bollywood History as attempting something so grandoise as Devdas!!

Hmm well its not only devdas..there are many devdasis too, roaming in the society..n its only few lucky ppl who get thier love in their real life...cuz its the matter of heart..u see or meet someone n even though u know,u cann get tht person,u still fall for tht person n well bear the pain..so it like u know thers a big pit n still u fall in tht,knowignly..which is why our elders say...you fall in love, noone till now said..you will rise in love..so i think there are many devdases in the society...not able to decide whts right for them, what they are entiteld to...
