Lot of people buy a digital camera without knowing the technicalities of the same, like what megapixels they need to get an optimum image for their needs. For example if you are making prints upto 6"x4" all you have to do is multiply the number of horizontal pixels by vertical pixels of the prints at say 300 ppi, which is approximately 216000 pixels, which translates into 2.16 megapixels so you can go for a 2 to 3 MP camera for most of your needs.
