Best thing about having a Boyfriend/Girlfriend

by Aishwarya » Fri May 12, 2006 1:21 am

I really need to know why people get into relationships. Love obviously. But what exactly? Is it receiving love or giving love?

Ofcourse, "both" is always the prefered answer. But given a choice between the two, what does best represent you? What do you (people in general) like?

IMO, lust is the main reason why it starts. love may or may not arise later.

another thing, the cinemas need patrons for the morning shows of flop films ;)

Best thing about a bf/gf? Partners of opposite sex to spend time with - nothing more, nothing less.
May the Fries be with you!

I think it depends on who the boyfriend or girlfriend is :).

If the person is someone who

a. loves you

b. understands the things that matter to you and respects them

c. knows how to work around all your moods

d. sees all everyday quibbles through a long-term perspective to trivialize them (and helps you do the same)

e. follows protocol so as not to get the other person's ego started

f. communicates

and is in general a stud, then it can be next only to salvation to have a boyfriend/girlfriend.

Or, in place of all these, the person should have great looks :D.

And blessed are those who get a partner with both.

 Well said

I don't agree with CAD here, it doesn't always start with lust, it might jsut start with friendship, caring and sharing your spare time gossipping, quibbling and going to movies and generally getting comfortable with each other, without even thinking that they are actually spending a lot of time together, which have started epople talking :)

But then, like msot selfish human beings, to be evry honest, receiving love is a better feeling than giving...becasue then we feel pampered, taken care of, etc., and we gradually start doing the same to the other person.....

Hence, IMO, it starts by consciously 'receiving' by both sides and subconsciously 'giving' too....and it is sustained when both sides cosnciously start 'giving' love...

@POW, if any person feeels that his/her bf or gf is ugly, irritating, boring...then no one would be choosing them as their bf/gf in the first place, right?

So, as Aishwarya says - start a relationship- then you would not eb starting one anyway.....so you've got to assume taht your partner is all that you wanted and then say what starts it....giving or receiving love...

Well good luck, PMOW. Such people are very rare to find. And lets say you did, then wouldnt giving love to such a person be the next obvious thing... To put it crudely, once you have him/her (are you male or female?) wouldnt you treat that person as a prized possession and love and nurture her/him?

I know that it feels wonderful to be pampered and taken care of etc. But have you ever experianced the feeling one gets when you go out of your way to do something for your BF/GF; Thats an outcome of giving love. That expression, that smile on your spouse's face, when he/she sees what you have done for him/her, is invaluable and the satisfaction you derive from such an act cannot be compared with anything else. Sort of like what a mother does for her children.

Receiving love is wonderful. But the next stage is loving to love your BF/GF. I think thats what matters in the long run. The feeling you get when you see an old couple walking together, hand in hand... It is so pure. They seem far more contented and happy.. why? Because now they are at the stage when they are giving love to each other...

So, best thing about having a BF/GF is giving love... It is a whole lot of fun!

Receiving/Giving Love

by VJ » Sat May 13, 2006 2:41 pm

Receiving love depends on one's doing. Giving love depends on your nature and character. Giving love should come from the inner part of ur heart i.e. your soul.

Both are dependent on each other. When you receive love you feel very happy about someone loves you and when you give love the other person feels very happy that you love him/her.

U can't take away one from the other. An individual requires both receiving/giving love.

Old couples are rarely content with each other. They just endure.

Love's all about friendship.

When you are genuine friends with someone you accept him/her as she is. The same goes with the person you love.
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you are right.

When one fully understands something then they become bored. That is why love is so complicated.

i beg to differ. i believe that a person cant get bored if he/she loves one another. there always something new to discover in the persona of ur beloved. love is not complicated its human beings who are complicated and bring more and more dimensions into a stable relationship!
