RDB, Swades and Yuva lounge editions

I have added the Mood Swing mix for Rang De Basanti

About a month ago i met this DJ of an upmarket mumbai lounge in the flight to mumbai. We discussed on ways to remix. I bluetoothed one my own mixes to him and he was pretty impressed and asked for more.

I sent him two of my works using ripped background scores of Swades and Yuva. I believe he is made these two tracks mandatory items in his play list. Thats a nice feeling..

Just thought i should share this here..check out if its good enough. Last night a portion of the Yuva mix was played in one of Hyds pubs..don't know how it got here but ..felt awesome!

to cut a long story short, simply brilliant. i have always loved the swades tracks but to listen to them in this manner is an absolutely delight. since you seem to have put in effort in mixing these, my two cents are here based on what i heard on my Bose system!

1. swades mix is too long i think. I mean it is brilliant to keep listening and yes it is certainly switching between moods but you might wanna try a shorter version. Not a compulsion as the track is very well made and 20 mins does not seem long. I especially liked the last 3 mins. Awesome!! your swades mix certainly gets into my playlist atleast. I really cant remember which tracks comes where in the film so i heard it just like i listen to any new song and its very very nice...but why does the sound level fluctuate occasitionlly

2. Rang de is very pleasing. Kinda like enigma tracks. Its better organised than the swades track. i liked the beats and the way you have faded into something as harmony. very nice. The transitions are very smooth and makes you wanna listen to more. i have seen RDB 4 times and i remember the music that comes in the begining. i recorded it in my cell phone!!, but thanks a million for this amazing version

3. Yuva...i am not sure what you had in mind. Its sounds very experimental...gets chaotic at the end and definetly not a lounge material. Its ok, but you could have worked a little bit on clearing up some mess..u know what i mean!!

nonetheless, good set of tracks..do you have some more like these?

Thanks a lot for your response. I have recorded more than 350 downloads in just 2 days and its good that one of you has reviewed it here. basically i did not want the background scores of these movies to go un noticed.

Will rework Yuva and see if i can make some changes

As a matter of fact i do have more stuff like this...lots actually I received bad feedback on the Yuva mix so i am reworking on it...time is not on my side in weekdays.

Same here. Many asked me to reduce the duration of the Swades mix and make it a bit more 'groovy'. Lemme work on it...more reviews would be appreciated.

I have heard all the tracks in Denon systems and they sound good..no clue on Bose.

RDB soundtrack definitely stands out. I esp liked the 8-9:30 time interval with silence and high pitch music interspersed. Yuva soundtrack might need some more work. a very good effort anyway. i can check out the tracks on bose while going back home evening. will let you know.

noticed a discontinuity in the RDB track at 3:53 when the song changes tracks... can this transition be made smoother? it sounds abrupt as of now. dint get a chance to check on bose yet. will keep ya posted

I think you meant sometime before 3:53 because there is not problem at 3:53. Also, dont expect anything major in Bose, the tracks are not in dolby 5.1

You nailed it! These are going straight to my favorites.

To chew upon...

-best movie tracks & subtle tracks to play with and you did an amazing job

-As someone pointed out the last few minutes of swades track rocks but could be shortened a bit, some segments were monotonous which can be cut down a bit

-Lounge music is supposed to be longer and you did consider that

-Actually I liked Yuva more than nything - go lil easy on the audio fading at the 6:45 - 8:00 duration, mabbe a lil 'jana gana mana' at the end might complete this? :idea:

-RDB - luved the kalbali segment of it.

-The ratings

Yuva - 10/10

Swades - 9.7/10

RDB - 9.6/10

Its not possible to have dolby 5.1 tracks in mp3 mode as such mp3 is downmixed for small file size and clarity. I can upmix the track in a audio CD format to get a surround effect ( which would be cool) but i can distribute, i would have personaly hand over the discs..unless someone is a Sony music guy willing to distribute :wink:

Anyways, my version 2 of the Yuva mix will be up sometime this weekend

thanks for sharing..share more.

remixing needs the right software+sense of what would match with what+Idea of grooves and the fun element ( as in swaping rhythms across speakers, filtering noise and stuff)
