What this north/south divide?

by BigDaddy » Wed May 17, 2006 10:31 am

students from south have been suffering and enduring the reservations from a very long time.. I think TamilNadu has reached the heights of reservations long time back! around 70-75% of the seats fall under the reserved category!! Whatever happens to this anti-reservation protests, the students from South will continue to suffer and therefore, there is no enthusiasm for the protests... The problem with the educational system is that there are not enough quality educational institutes in India to cater to the number of talented students.. Quota will aggravate the problem as it will ensure that even the eligible talented students have no place in the system... I guess ultimately, this will encourage Brain Drain in a big way.. Talent has many countries wooing them!! 8)

will all this protests make any difference? absolutely not! even the self immolation of a student during the anti-mandal agitation made no difference.

its pure electoral mathematics.

I am pretty amused with the protests happening in Delhi. Why are only medico's protesting?? This thread says South students are not protesting. Only ppl protesting are medicos in North.

To answer CAD, I was the Convener of AMCF (Anti Mandal Commission Forum) in early 90s and that was when the whole country was up in the arms and the movement had support of the ppl across industries / social strata too. And we all know what happened. Me and several others ended up having few cases filed against us.

This movement too will die a natural death.

WTF?

by BigDaddy » Thu May 18, 2006 7:40 pm

Reservations are being forced down by the Ministers/politicians whose only motive is to gain votes. The students who are agitating are the real sufferers because they are the ones who stand to lose out. This Government has decided to divide the society deeply and hopes to cash in from the resultant chaos. No body was demanding reservations when Arjun Singh announced it all of a sudden setting in motion these unfortunate chain of events.... The best way to show the frustration to these goons who are politicians is to vote them out with a huge margin of votes so that they will shudder to ever think of dividing the society. Wish things were so simple!!

Obviously you are pointing at having the Fundamnetalist Hindu party BJP back to power , but did you ever wonder why the BJP is quiet about the reservation issue, your hopes of BJP being a saviour of the brahminical elite amongst the Hindutva populace will be shattered if you bank on that strategy, becuase even BJP would be more than interested in letiting this bill go thru, it cant dare to oppose it ,because these reservations are for the same people who it wants to be awakened by imposing the Brahminical Hindutva on them..

It's a right move to provide reservation.

Let me address your concerns

1) If these scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and backward classes are not encouraged to get proper education, employment they would remain so and a constant and concerted efforts are there to bring them out from their heavens like villages and forests. If you force them to come out and do not provide them any incentive they would feel deprived and wronged upon because they are not allowed to live the way they want AND neither they are encouraged to lead a life like the main stream educated. So.... we got to provide an incentive one form of which is Reservation. Which gives them a hope that their future can get better. Otherwise just imagine what can happen to a group of people without any HOPE - opposite to that is despair and we cant afford it. If you can't understand this simple logic read something on conflict between Bihars RANVIR SENA and An organisation like MCC.

2)Educated should not oppose this ray of hope to the underpriveleged as they already have the strength to provide themselves with the needed education and employment.

3)Our President's (His Highness Kalam's) vision of making India a developed nation by 2020 or 2025 should also talk (unfortunately it does'nt talke, for which I have a grouse against him) about the responsibility we all carry on our shoulders of creating which promotes and strives for equality in social sector. If we only think of being a developed nation by that year (2020 or 2025 or whatever) without that equality greater that what we have in our society today THEN we are asking for a bigger problem.

4)" South Indians are not participating in the protest " is not totally correct because ther have been protests even down south. But may not be as many as they are in North because there has been a philosophical divide between the way south indians are brough up and north indians are brought up and what the way of live are ( for further readings I recommend something on ARYANS and DRAVIDANS).

5)It's not being forced upon by politicians look at them as some people who have been in public life for long and REMEMBER if you are not good at understanding peoples problems and what needs to be done for the common good you will not be able to do well in public life. They are those people who have done well in public life and are so well equipped to decide about WHAT needs to be done unlike majority who have acess to computers, internet and write these blogs or come to discussion forums.

good to imagine that there will be competetion to use public toilets instead of littering all around so that there will be reservation.
