It is self-deprecating humor. It must be a vey painful state. When you cannot find people in the world respect you, and those of us who cannot find any more strength to fight back we generally offer not only the other cheek, but the face too, to be spit upon.

That is what I see here. It is painful, I do not find it admirable at all. I wish the Israelis and the jews fight back with dignity that they so much deserve, just as much as any other human being.

Actually no. I think only someone who is supremely confident can indulge in self deprecation humor, secure in the belief that the self deprecation is exactly that, HUMOR. In either case, the response is mature and is superior anyday to rioting, killing and getting killed.

Old City suffers yesterday for Danish Cartoons printed in September 2005!

burn vehicles, loot shops, stone the buses, create mayhem in the old city and let the satanic Danes know that the Prophet cannot be mocked. if the Prophet were alive today he wud die of embarrasment! as one of those cartoons claimed, it is real hard for Him to be loved by fools. Any guesses who is actually mocking the Prophet here?

And who is responsible for yesterday's incident? that closet-Razakar/ISI agent Asaduddin Owaisi. as if instigating 10000 people were not enough, he had the gall to go to the cops in the midst of the rioting and protest abt the arrest of one of his partymen Mohd Ghouse, who was leading a mob!

with leaders like these, the muslims dont need the RSS to harm them.

You know what??? I fully agree with that part , but the thing is the riot started when the Hindu shop owners not the local Hindus but the Marwaris etc , started throwing stones at a peaceful protest march, I think incidents like these strengthen no one but organizations like VHP/RSS , so who would be more intersted in starting the Mrawari Hindu shop owners in the Charmninar area or Muslims????

Neuter those protesters in the Old City

by vakibs » Sat Feb 18, 2006 3:01 pm

This mob is a piece of $hit. WTF were they thinking ? They should all be neutered.

If the government doesn't take an active stance against this piece of stupidity, more trouble will follow soon. Are these the kind of leaders that the Muslim community adopts ? How unfortunate for the people of this great city ! No muslim leader raises a question about the levels of literacy, per capita income or the inequalities in the community. Is there any leader currently of the stature of Maulana Azad. These dill-holes call themselves leaders !!? These Owaisis are bloody rich basturds who don't care a $hit about the problems of common people. To divert the attention, they cook up some controversy or the other all the time. They should be dragged onto the streets and paraded along with donkeys and pigs.

Whatever happened to the clever islamic press and intellilgentsia of the past ? Is this all that they could think of for protesting ? And what do Hyderabadis have to do with those cartoons in Denmark ? No newspaper has published any such cartoons over here !!

If the muslim community doesnt wake up and step up to the challengs of the 21st century, they do not have any rights to consider themselves heirs of a great civilization. Whatever happend to the spirit of innovation in Arab mathematics, medicine and astronomy ? At one point of time, Baghdad was considered the cultural center of the world.

What are the muslim countries doing right now ? How much money is Saudi Arabia investing in research ? How much is UAE investing ? How about Yemen ? What a shame !! These countries call themselves the leaders of the Islamic world !!! Bull$hit !! On the other hand, countries like Malaysia are doing extremely well given their limited economic resources.

Muslims of India, where do you want to trace your roots to ? Do you want to trace them to Ibn Sina the Mathematician ? To Mirza Ghalib the poet ? To Omar Khayyam - the equal of Leanardo daVinci ? Or do you want to trace them to those lazy filthy basturds who do nothing but live off their oil wealth ?

Yes, the solution is not to give in but fight back. 'Jihad' as it is called... lets see the results:

1. 3 killed in Afghanistan - all muslims

2. 45 die in Nigerial - all muslims

3. 15 killed in pakistan, 2 churches burnt, KFC burnt, diplomat avenue looted.

4. Several people arrested in Hyderabad.

5. Reputation tarred forever.

jeez ... talk about clueless ...

[preach]

what i was trying to say is that why are you so bothered about what someother guy is saying ... unless there's some truth there that your uncomfortable about ...

are you willing to take someones life because they drew a cartoon (a pretty unfunny one) about someone you respect/worship/whatever? or should you see what it is exactly about those 'toons thats getting your panties in a twist? and so we get to the whole poetry-about-your-mum-being-broadcast and man-thats-so-OFFENSIVE theme you've been developing ... i think you have some freudian issues you need to work out for yourself,if you get seriously disturbed by crap like that...

[/preach]

like somebody was ... about his mum being on the cover of crack-whore magazine ...

thats a south park "joke" btw,im not calling you or your mum anything. (before you start frothing at the mouth and start yelling about poets in your neighbourhood and other nonsense )

ok , ive lost what i was trying to say as im a bit tipsy.basically dont give so much importance to what other people say about you and yours.for eg. i say "you are smart" ... do you feel any different?

Hussain on Hindu Terrorist Group's hitlist

by parinda » Thu Feb 23, 2006 7:04 am

The part of the story covered by Statesman...Why are the Hindu fundamentalist organizations reacting to the cartoon controversy like this, they sure are not using the excuse of freedom of expression, coz they want Maqbool Husain to be killed!!!!!way to go RSS you have the monopoly over patrotism(associating Hinduism with patriotism, which comes down to the crude line of thinking by the Hindu Fundamentalist zealots many of whom are on thse boards ,that to be patriotic you have to be Hindu..)..!!!

http://www.thestatesman.net/page.news.p ... &id=107615

LUCKNOW/INDORE, Feb. 22. — The Hindu Personal Law Board announced a Rs 51 crore reward for eliminating painter MF Hussain and others today and a leader of Madhya Pradesh Congress unit’s minority cell offered Rs 11 lakh to any “patriot” chopping off Hussain’s hands for hurting Hindu sentiments.

“Anyone who kills Hussain for making obscene paintings of goddess Sarswati and Bharat Mata, those in the German company printing pictures of Ram and Krishna on tissue papers and the French filmmaker desecrating Lord Shiva, will be given Rs 51 crore in cash by the board,” declared its president Mr Ashok Pandey in Lucknow. He added, tongue-in-cheek, that if UP’s Haj minister, Mr Yaqoob Qureshi, undertook the job, “he will be given Rs 101 crore.”

The Madhya Pradesh Congress Minority Cell vice-chairman, Mr Akthar Baig, said in a statement in Indore that Hussain had “played with the sentiments of the people and tried to disrupt communal harmony in the past by painting nude pictures of Hindu gods and goddess and now that of Bharat Mata.” It would be in the “interest of the nation if a patriot will chop off his hands. I will give that person Rs 11 lakh,” he added.

In New Delhi, the editor of Senior India, a magazine published from the Capital, was today arrested for reproducing the contro-versial cartoons of Prophet Moha-mmed, which first appeared in a Danish news-paper, in its 28 February edition. Meanwhile, cartoon protests have now entered the virtual world with SMS messages urging people to boycott products made in Denmark, PTI reports from New Delhi. “Boycott Denmark products — Cadbury chocolate, 7UP drink... and any product with bar code number starting with 57,” reads a message circulated among mobile users. — SNS/PTI

how does it affect any of you? i can't quite express how this issue affects me. In my view it was a bone headed thing to do by that publication because it touched off another powder keg.

To people who are trying to clear the landmines...this is such an annoyance, don't you think?

i've heard some people say... we're defending the prophet...i guess thats freedom of expression! I don't think any European or American's freedom of expression is in danger but there sure is immediate danger of people's right to life in the middle-east and elsewhere...would this qualify as being ironic?

when I think about it, didn't our forebears fight and win us the rights we have today? In my opinion, putting down a tabloid does not pose a grave danger to civil rights..it wasn't the express purpose of defending some tabloid that led to the great civil movements of yesterday.

That said...what can we do to dissaude people from this mindlessness thats going on right now? I think by concentrating on protecting the right of expression of a few, the right to life of several is jeopardised be it in the middle east or India or Europe.

Its a difficult time and i hope that this discussion does not deteriorate into another judgemental flame fest.

just recovered from a laffter fit...:D

first of all there is no such thing called "The Hindu Personal Law Board" mainly coz there is no codified "personal law" that all hindus have to follow. This "organization" has no legal or societal sanction/acceptance among the hindus. it looks like an organization setup by the khakhi-chaddi-wallahs in response to the "Muslim Personal Law Board".

Voice Of Sanity ... From Across The Border

This week brought the sad and disturbing news of the burning of churches and more deaths in Turkey Pakistan and Nigeria in connection to the ongoing controversy about offensive cartoons about the Prophet Muhammad first published in a Danish newspaper. Peace and blessings be upon the Prophet. Love of the Prophet must not result in a few people once again destroying their future by killing and burning churches. These people by their actions need to seek God's and their victims’ forgiveness, offer them compensation and reaffirm their faith if they truly want to atone for their misdeeds. Love of the Prophet must always reflect how merciful and forgiving he was. While we condemn these cartoons, we applaud peaceful protests that Muslims have engaged in well before the media caught on to the story. However, we must dissociate ourselves from those who burn churches and attack innocent people who have nothing to do with causing the offense. The second sad news of the week was more evidence of is double standard applied in dealing with Islamophobia and anti-Semitism. A court in Vienna, Austria handed down a three-year jail term for David Irving, a British historian who denies that the Holocaust ever happened. Irving admitted to the criminal charge of denying that the Nazis sent millions of Jews to the gas chambers.

Is a 'certain' religion scaring the Crrap out of the rest?

by samai » Sat Feb 25, 2006 2:57 am

I didn't insult any religion: Manisha Koirala

http://www.samachar.com

http://www.samachar.com/showurl.htm?rur ... n:~Manisha

By Subhash K Jha | Friday, 24 February , 2006, 16:37

Recently, Manisha Koirala was involved in a controversy concerning the name of her supposed dog. When Subhash K Jha chatted with her over the matter, the pretty woman was fuming uncontrollably. And quite understandably so...

You seem to have got yourself into a bit of a jam over your dog's name?

Trouble…that's me! Wherever I go I'm followed by trouble. I can't understand why I'm always singled out for controversies! This latest one just takes my breath away. Because it's so false and so malicious and ugly.

You mean you haven't named your canine Mustafa?

I don't have a dog, let alone a dog by that name. Am I mad to do such a ugly and sacrilgeous thing? I come from a family where we were taught to love and respect every community and religion. Disrespecting another human being, let alone another person's religion or culture, is alien to me. I'm a Hindu and a Nepali by birth. But I'm as Indian as anyone else in this country. And I believe in all the secular values that Indian democracy is famous for.

But where and how did this story come from?

Listen, I may be crazy. But not that crazy. I'd never call my dog by that name. When I read this hideous error in the paper I laughed it off, thinking it was just a printing error. I had gone for an election campaign to Nepal. And my mind was totally focused on that. I came back to Mumbai. And I had this huge problem waiting for me. The police inspector came home to see if I had dogs staying with me. I haven't had any dogs staying in my home for two years.

You actually had the cops inspecting your home?

Not just once, but twice. There is a police officer staying in my building who had already informed the cops that I had no dogs in my home for two years, and the ones that I had were named Tanya and Tweety.

Tanya and Tweety???

That's what they were called. And that was two years ago. How the names got changed in print is beyond me. I don't understand why this trivial story has been made into such a massive problem. Even the person who wrote it must have thought it's just one of those easy-come-easy-go stories that are forgotten the day after publication.

It seems someone is trying to cash in on your name by proving you non-secular?

That's how it seems. I've never had any problem with any individual or community. I believe the newspaper and the writer who wrote the story have clarified. But there's a lot of trouble now. I thought the problem was sorted out after the cops checked I had no dogs at home. Two days ago a designer-friend of mine Shahid Amir who lives closeby and who's a pet lover like me, wanted to know if I had named my dog by a particular name. He also told me that people from a sensitive Muslim area in Mumbai were coming to my house to ransack it. I asked Shahid if as close friend, he thought that I was stupid enough to do such a thing.

You sound very upset...

I am! If one section of the Muslims believe I'm capable of such stupidity why not the rest? It's scary. But I'm being hounded for something I've never done.
