Name change for Hyderabad

Continuing with the tradition of political corrections in India, nothing seems to hit home more immediately than a change in names for places. Madras to Chennai, Bombay to Mumbai (my personal favorite for lashing out - I can still the myriad feelings going through my head when I say Bombay, rather than Mumbai), and now Bangalore to Bengaluru.

Should Hyderabad change it's name to Bhagyanagar, continuing in the above tradition?

No!

Pray, why bhagyanagar? is there any 'sane' logic behind changing it? As of now, no party had quoted this name change thingy in their election manifesto! Coz the other changes were done with such ulterior motves I think!

At a time when the demarcation between Hyderabad & secunderabad has nearly disappeared, and the city is spreading its wings.....no name change is necessary!

Agreed, Bhagyanagri Biryani doesn't sound as interesting as Hyderabadi Biryani or for that matter, Hyderabadi Pottiya sounds better than Bhagyanagri Pottiya!!!

The politicians should be stopped from Indianising India. Names of cities represent the history of that place.

Imagine someone in the future asking why the name Bhagyanagar and the answer is it changed from Bhagyanar to Hyderabad (Hyder begum's story) then back the Bhagyanagar (Some idiot politician's motives).
