by indo-chinese do u mean "Indianized Chinese" like most of our chinese restaurants are? there are many good chinese n oriental joints in banjara hills - Kafulok, Little Penang, Far East (Ohri's) , all on Rd#12; Mainland China, Cinnabar Redd, Chinese Pavilion all on Rd#1; Wang's Kitchen, just ahead behind Model House in Punjagutta.....have i missed any?

for purely indian verison of chinese food (paneer-chilli powder-tadka-raw onions-on-noodles kind), u can try Metropolis Dhabha on Rd#1! :D

Bhel Puri....only place i can think now of is "Chowpatty" at Ohri's on Rd#12.

People are crazy, at times are strange. I am locked-in tight, I am out of range.
I used to care, but things have changed.

Tx for your reply.

Is the Chowpatty at Ohri's & Far East at Ohri's at the same

location?

Also the various Chinese places you recommned, how costly/cheap are they? I have heard that Mainland China is very expensive - or have I heard wrong?

One more question - I have seen that many Bhel Puri places in Hyd put Carrots & Cucumbers in Bhel which is just not done. Do you know if Chowpatty serves this modified version of Bhel or the authentic one?

yes...there are 4 restaurants in that complex...
Kooseen wrote:Also the various Chinese places you recommned, how costly/cheap are they? I have heard that Mainland China is very expensive - or have I heard wrong?
they are all quite expensive but not too much...they are all classy places. i think the most expensive of my list is Cinnabar Redd. Wang's Kitchen is moderately priced but for siilar moderately priced restaurants u have to get out of Banjara Hills...

yes most bhel joints in hydbad add chopped cucumbers to bhel puri...but i have never seen carrots in bhel tho...where did u see that...?

abt Chowpatty bhel i dont know...coz i never had bhel puri there yet...had most other items except that...

the Ohri's also run the food courts at Prasads and Central...so the "chaat" items at those places are largely the same as the items at Chowpatty. if anyone has eaten in those 2 places, they wud have an idea abt Chowpatty stuff...

There's one more Chinese place on Nagarjuna Circle - Canton. It's cheap and not a roadside restaurant and the food's good too.

Canton's right beside the Wine Shop on the Midway's road - as soon as you turn onto the road, keep looking beyond the florists. You have to climb down a few steps from the pavement.

PS: Sorry for the late reply!

No! Chinese Pavilion is a lot further down the road from Midway's! And it's certainly not a cheap restaurant! Canton is before Midway's... just as you turn onto the road.

Hmmm... It's a good place... small and cosy and worth a visit at least once.

There's a chap who sells really good bhel puri, diagonally opposite Nanking restaurant, in Secunderabad.

You eat there once, and you'll swear by the bhel !
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you are right.

I suppose he is, but I thought that place closed down a long time ago. I might be mistaken because I tried to find it in the afternoon and it might be open only during the evenings.
