Is the Festival Offer Still on?
How much did it cost u? Specs pleeze....
i'm also thinking to buy one
yes the festival offer...it cost abt 2400/- to install (1999 + variable cost of antenna cable).

it doesnt come with speakers an u have to arrange for a set. a good quality multimedia speaker (2 speakers + subwoofer) set wud do fine. u can also connect it to yr TV speakers (if yr TV is not a very old model), but in that case u have to leave the TV "On" while listening to the music (btw, i have connected it to a good multimedia speaker system).

first 3 months subscription is included in the installation. later its 1800/- per annum for all the channels (abt 35-40)

its a good investment, go for it!

Not bad, Grampa! Your memory is still good. Old age has not had a very bad effect on it. :P

I scanned the TMC outlets and they had only one model, the Diva for 1999/-

the other 3 models were upwards of 7k...

I have requested for a home demo but it might take a while. i wasn't told abt the extra cost for da antenna  shall hafta clarify it!

the few roadblocks for me are that there is only 1 telugu station and in my absence the folks will listen only to telugu. and also it is a 'stay-put' kinda arrngement, so If i place it in da hall, I can't listen at night & if i place in da bedroom, folks can't listen it in the daytime :(

quite a paradox it's turning out to be....

i dont think there can be a home demo...they wud have to set up the antenna first. have the demo at the showroom itself
ycr007 wrote:i wasn't told abt the extra cost for da antenna  shall hafta clarify it!
its the cost of the cable from the antenna to yr headunit. its cost depends on the length u purchase...if the antenna is very far away from the headunit, u'll have to spend more on a longer cable.
ycr007 wrote:so If i place it in da hall, I can't listen at night & if i place in da bedroom, folks can't listen it in the daytime :( quite a paradox it's turning out to be....
well...

1) keep it in the hall and also sleep there at night :) use yr room just to change clothes

or

2) have 2 sets of speakers, one for the hall and one for yr room. connect the unit to the hall speakers in the day, if concurrent connections are not possible. the unit can be in yr room since the family might not change stations everytime. (but u need looong speaker cables)

or

3) install it in yr room and make sure u have a good multimedia spkr system. yr family can switch it on yr room at high volume, keep the door open and listen to it from anywhere in the house.

@CAD: Even I had researched all those suggestions beforehand.......and none of them is feasible (let's jus' say that the 'build' of the house is as such) :?

Moi bedroon is on 2nd floor, Hall & Living on Ground floor,so feasibility of having :(1) Set in Hall;Speakers:One in moi room & another in Hall AND (2) Set in Room,Speakers in Hall; is totally Nil !!!

Two sets would solve the problem tho  one for me & another for Folks!!! but that would burn moi entire pocket,if not a hole :?

yes guys, if you are driving yr own vehicle, avoid night journeys. if night travel is necessary, hire a driver who wud be used to night conditions. most of the deaths at night happen coz of momentary lack of vision due to high beam lamps of oncoming vehicles.

last month a friend of mine while driving to hydbad from bangalore, ran over and killed someone with his Scorpio on the outskirts of bangalore. this was around 7am, not in the night. the victim was bicycling on the wrong side of the road and suddenly appeared in front of my friend's vehicle. morals of the story: (1) always expect the unexpected on highways. (2) dont speed on turns in the highway - where u cannot see what lies ahead.
