Yeah looks like a real crazy day on the DB's....

I think Aussies start as the fav in my book.... I think they will pull off the one day series.... Regardin the one-off test is a tough call....

I dont think Freddie,KP will play wit the same spirit as in the Ashes....

Lara,Kallis,Pollock.... havent played cricket since a long time and the aussies all eager to make a comeback..... tats my call ( 2-1 aussies)

how abt ya..... whom do u fancy

me thinks Aussies' team spirit is their biggest asset...cannot make a call on out come of series but still thinks that Aussies start favorite...i dont think talent wise thers anything to choose between them (except may b in spin department)

9 am IST .... Yeah I agree with Ian Chappel .... captaincy I think is a vital factor in cricket.... its so very decisive whn we compare it with games like football, hockey wher captains do not hav much of a role to play....

Graeme Smith is a decent leader but I think Vaughan wld be in my team any day evn if it was a clash between Sachin Tendulkar and Vaughan....

I don't quite understand this huge hullaboo over Sachin. Agreed, he's the greatest batsman of his generation (that too rightly disputed by a big cross section of Brian Lara fans) but does he have the consistency of the Don, the charisma of Miandad, the grittiness of Border, the power of Richards, the grace of Gower or the leadership skills of Steve Waugh? No. Then why make him above reproach?

I wasn't comparing Saurav and Sachin. I was just comparing the way in which fans forget every failure of Sachin and are so unforgiving in case of others (not just Saurav but from as long as I've been following cricket, Shastri, Kapil Dev, Azhar, Sidhu, Manjrekar and the list goes on).

If you have a look at these stats in more detail, you'll notice that save the 1999-2000 series against Australia, all other big scores were scored on dead tracks and/or against weak opposition. Here's a link to the stats :

Sachin Tendulkar as captain of India

Moreover, the figures don't resemble a picture of consistency, do they?

I sure am. Any doubts?

Mark Taylor was sacked frm the ODI team long bfore he got tat 334*( he avged under 30 in his last 30 matches). My say is get Ganguly out of the ODI team he is doin no gud .... He can still be the test captain for anther cpla series....

I'd rather answer this with your own words.

Though I digress from part of what you said there. Who gave you the idea that captains don't have a role to play in football, hockey etc.? Stop being a mark.

Time To Show Grace!

Time To Show Grace!

It is time that our Sportsmen, especially, Cricketers show Grace. They should quit while about their peak, while people still like them rather than being booted out unceremoniously. They should develop interest in other areas of their game or life or get into business. We have examples in Venkataraghavan, Kapil Dev and Vijay Amrithraj. They lead full life! Sachin and Saurav may think of longer innings in the game like coaching and developing younger talent. We see the active age of sportsmen is dwindling. Tennis players fade out in their early twenties. Cricketers too may be doing so in their late twenties or early thirties, unlike the near forty age two decades ago.

I think u missed the 169 at cape town India were arnd 60/4 whn he came into bat.... it was against Donald (in his prime), Pollock and company.

The 92 at barbados was a deadly pitch.... India were bowled out for 82 in the second innings and evn the windies were bowled out for jus ovr a hundred..... and In AUS he was the man of the series .... inspite of jus scorin 252 runs.... aussies had langer and ponting scoring big runs and as far as I remember langer scored a double ton....

Regn the role of a captain i beg to differ with you .... U think a hockey or a football team ON FIELD ( i stress on field) has the same aura with him as a cricket captain I'd always say no.... Hockey and Footbal are games wher coaches or managers play a bigger role .... in cricket the captain is the man on the field

They surely have an advantage over the wrld 11 since they are playing in there own backyard, but that doesnt justify the way the wrld 11 lost y'day
