AVIAN Flu 100 million plus

by DQ » Fri Sep 23, 2005 11:47 am

Do you know much about this ?

Bird Flu or Avian Flu.

Bird flu has killed a confirmed 64 people in Asia since late 2003. Indonesia is suffering an outbreak of the disease, which has killed at least four people while 11 are under observation in hospital with bird flu-like symptoms.

Apparently the pandemic could take upto 100 million lives. Governments around the world are sitting mum. Why?

aah! now i understand what u r driving at: a Conspiracy theory... :D

it actually started in China and spread all over SE Asia....somewhat like SARS before it...

if u look up in internet, u can see that govts and WHO are not sitting mum. they are killing diseased birds, stocking up on vet as well as human medicines etc. the biggest problem now is the shortage of medicine and lack of adequate info coz this disease in quite new.

IMO, what we see now is just a reaction of confusion, typical of all govts. (remember initial reaction to mad cow disease in europe...?) it definitely is not a conspiracy...

unles of corz its a global Brahminical conspiracy to turn all people *...shudder...* vegetarian...

as per the WHO warning the number is between 1 and 7 million....

AFAIK the govts. arnd. the world have taken the issue seriously esp. after the WHO issued a warning in 2004 saying that it might mutate and spread among humans...

Just trying to get the facts clear. Is the number of casualties 100 million or is it just a projection? If its the number of casualties, where else has it hit apart from the close to 100 deaths you've mentioned in the first post? And if its just a projection, aren't you being an alarmist DQ by likening this to the war on terror (however much I may hate it).

Governments are not sitting mum. They are finally taking notice. Check this out: http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20050915/hl ... 0915193940

"Bush launched at the UN Summit Wednesday a new international partnership aimed at preventing avian influenza and other new strains of flu from becoming the first pandemic of the 21st century. "

This Bird Flu is an infection caused by avian influenza viruses. It is also being said that Tamiflu (also known as Oseltamivir) is an antiviral drug that is effective in stopping the Avian/Bird Flu from spreading once exposed and is recommended by doctors and the World Health Organization.

by bluefin » Mon Oct 10, 2005 9:27 pm

well it may not be long unitl it becomes a global pnademic

it will wipe entire populations of all countries

the flu is spreading far and wdie and people are really getting worried

the worst thiong is that the virus can mutate itself and so it can become highly contagious between human beings

i have read a lot about it at http://www.drugdelivery.ca/bird-flu.aspx

You yourself are saying"its not a pandemic yet " . The word is "yet" . But maybe if we just take it easy , the not yet can fast become a reality. This subject is all over the news now..there is no smoke without fire. Must be something in all the alarmist theories, otherwise why should Heads of Govts talk about it. President Bush has been talking about it and ways to stop it and talking of international parterships.

Hope theories remain theories ....
