Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister

by Meghdoot » Mon Sep 19, 2005 5:13 pm

Hey All,

I am looking for DVDs/VCDs of the outstanding British comedies, "Yes, Minister", and "Yes, Prime Minister". I think some of you will recall that it was aired in India some years back (i think early 1990s). I had a couple of episodes on VHS, which I got converted to DVD recently, before the tapes gave away...

I now want to buy the entire collection. I think it is made of about 9 DVDs (21 episodes of Yes Minister and 12 episodes of Yes Prime Minister). If anyone has any idea about where I can get these, or if anyone can sell these to me, I would like to talk to them!

BTW, a cheap copy of this excellent series was aired on DD titled "Ji, Mantriji" featuring Farookh Sheikh and some other guys... and when I say copy, even the dialoges were translated word for word into Hindi and presented....

Please let me know...

Thanks

I couldn't agree with you more. The comedy is extremely intelligent. The portrayal of an intelligent (LSE grad and editor of major newspaper "Reform") Politician, who is often torn between his selfish motives for climbing the political ladder and genuine altruism that is stone walled by an obdurate Sir Humphrey Appleby, is hilarious. After watching this series, I am depressed for the state of Indian Democracy because of the quality of our politicians. Just imagine Laloo Yadav carrying home those boxes of files and burning the midnight oil. Just does not jive.

On the topic, I got my 3 DVD set, a total of about 15 episodes from Ebay. Had to pay about $30 for it. But, it is probably the best $30 I had ever spent. Enjoy the hours and hours of replays. You can never get tired of "Yes! Minister".
