Has Sachin's absence created Vacuum?

by Sandeep » Sat Sep 17, 2005 1:50 pm

Just wanted to know what the intellectual brains of Hyderabad think about the ongoing crisis?

How many of you think things would have been different if Sachin was there in the team? But one thing is true that Indian cricket team is still not able to get over the hang of Sachin. If you observe, India performed pathetically whenever Sachin is not there in the team! He scores or not his precence is felt.

Do you think he could have solved the problem more amicably had he been in the team? Or this controversy itself wouldn't have arised as we would have won Tri Series finals with Sachin in the team!

A sensational article on Hindustan times.

http://www.hindustantimes.com/htcricket/14_17090511.htm

Here is my take on it: -

If what Pradeep Magazine reports is true, Greg Chappell has massively overstepped all limits. He cannot talk in that manner to the captain of the team. In cricket (unless basketball or any other American sport) the captain has a huge roll to play, as he is making all the key decisions on the field of play. A coach who throws such an important relationship into disarray with such a cavalier remark doesn't fit the description of a cricket coach. Chappell's ego was always going to be a problem. This is not the end, but just the beginning of the problems Chappell is going to cause in Indian cricket. He is bound to have run-ins with Laxman (as he already seems to have), Tendulkar, Kumble, perhaps even Dravid. The macho talk of "either its him or me" from Chappell is simply disgusting. It suggests that he got a big upfront payment and isn't particularly bothered about the need to build a long-term relationship with team members and seek to build on the strengths of the team.

The Pradeep Magazine article of course was a classic story "planted" by coach Chappell. This is the sort of thing that is utterly disgraceful, and a huge escalation of what was a very small episode when Ganguly replied in the affirmative to repeated, pointed questions from Harsha Bhogle.

whether chappel was right or wrong, it was disgraceful on ganguly's part to have washed the team's dirty linen in public...

he's not exactly playing his best since long and is more of a liability these days. and he used almost 300 balls to plod to 101 so that he can make this point in the press conference...this is not good....

someone like kaif wud have been a better choice in ganguly's place as of now.
wtf? i no longer care if my posts hurt yr feelings

I agree. It was unbecoming of the Captain to do something like that and he didn't even prove his critics wrong since it was a nothing attack and there were good batting conditions. In fact, he proved them just right by getting to a 100 in over 250 balls and then getting out shortly after that.

But I'm still a Ganguly fan and hoping he comes back into form :D
Things are supposed to happen the way they happen. And the reason they happen the way the happen is because you try to make them happen in a certain way and may or may not be succesful.

It was naive of ganguly to have opened the can of worms in the public. He must'ave tried to make that as an examle to show under how much pressure he was and how his innings would'ave answered his detractors.

But that move fell flat on ts face it seems.and as i write this, some news channel's showing that BCCI bosses have instructed both chappell & ganguly to keep their mouth shut :?

Some reports are suggesting that Dravid was against ganguly's stepping down and also that this was a move aimed at increasing the fire in ganguly.whatever may be the reason or intent behnd this move,it should have remained behind closed doors. And as of now,ex-cricketers & Columnists are saying that Indian cricket needs chappell more than it needs ganguly, now what would that do to the confidence of ganguly, remains to be seen.

not exactly a complain ...

wut exactly is lacking in indian cricketers- training/technique/ physique/team spirit/ something else? a pool of 12 is selected from more than a billion. From the theory of probability, should we not have the best possible team? How come countries like aus / eng are able to stay on top?
