Why do you have to degrade yourself by even comparing yourself to Maneka? :P

She is someone who is fighting for the rights of living beings of her own kind. Someone nicked her (or Amala) as kukkallamma ;)

Tch Tch!! Thatz Quite not what I've Expcted to come from you Lone :?

Itz okay that you like Non Veg and have quite a radical view on Vegtarianism.

But that does'nt mean that you should look upon every Vegetarian as some Scum.

Maneka Gandhi & Amala are Two people Who are crusading in their own way for what they think is Right. Organizations Like Blue Cross,PETA,Greenpeace etc Do their Bit for the world.

Instead of Poking Fun at them,You could atleast given some respect for them as Human Beings.

I've been an environmentalist in my own way, and have supported various causes for plants and animals.

Maneka Gandhi is out for votes and popularity, and nothing else.

12 years ago, a little girl was torn apart by a bunch of dogs which had been harassing the locality members. The girl was killed in front of her mother who could only watch helplessly while her daughter's limbs were ripped out of the body. The MCH cared crap for this and threw the responsibility on Blue Cross. The least the government could have done was throw those dogs out of the city limits if not kill them. Then out of the blue comes Maneka and Amala threating the MCH if they killed even one of those killer dogs.

I never hated her so much after this. To some people like Maneka, dog life comes before human life. Rich people in these stray-dog-ridden localities probably don't know what it is to be chased by stray dogs because they travel by cars (unless they walk on the road). Let them take a walk on those roads and you'll see what they say about not killing dogs again.

And I have visited Blue Cross around the time it was started. I went there with a friend in 1993 - he wanted to adopt a pup. I'm definitely not insensitive to animal rights movements.

Its just when I come across frivolous people like Maneka who go overboard that I sneer at them.

BTW, I never went to Blue Cross again after all the drama Maneka made over not killing the killer stray dogs.

Whenever did I say I look down upon vegetarians as scum? My best friend (a Chinese) is vegetarian (even though she cooks pork for me), my favourite aunt is vegetarian, and half the people around me are vegetarians. I don't care what people eat, as long as they don't thrust down their vegetarian norms on me or keep saying that what I eat is wrong.

I respect human beings who respect human beings and who put human beings at a higher priority than animals.

ycr, I know what you mean. If you had walked around in the early 1990's when these people were active, you'd know what I mean. I was a little active in some of these myself. After a series of incidents where people were ripped by dogs (the little girl was just one of them) and Maneka made those unjustified and ridiculous statements, she and Amala lost many supporters including some of my friends who were canine lovers. Maybe if I had made that statement 12 years ago, the response would have been more agreeable.

You can still use the Character Map to copy the E character and paste it here. I do that sometimes with troublesome keyboards. :)

Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Character Map

What would life be without a Image

Ah I do love the Green Salads that accompany my meals, not to forget the Alu - Gobi etc lekin without Gosh life would be too dull.

As for Respected Maneka and Amala. Fighting against cruelty is one thing as long as the fight remains to avoid cruelty. But inferring into some ones dietary habits is taking things too far.

i am a veggie by birth but i do enjoy an occassional chicken or seafood outside home (no mutton/red meat plz).

i think its best to leave dietery choice to individuals instead of trying to impose something. at best vegetarian activists can try to educate the people abt the benefits of vegetarianism and leave the choice to them. but one cannot deny the fact that controlled/balanced vegetarian diet is healthier and there are vegetarian substitutes which ensure the same nutritional benefit non-vegetarian food gives (which anyway is reduced/counter-acted coz of over-cooking/deep frying of meat.)

abt hindus not eating cows, i am not sure if its a religious or cultural issue coz in india even now many hindus in kerala and the north east eat beef.

..and abt showing humanity towards animals...yes...that is important. when they are to be killed atleast treat them with respect and affection.
wtf? i no longer care if my posts hurt yr feelings

Halal is when you say a muslim prayer and cut the goat's wind pipe.. let it die and HARAM(opposite of HALAL) is any other method of killing. Like chopping the animals head clean off using mechanical devices or anything else.

The above is what it comes down to stating HALAL/HARAM in a very politically incorrect way. But hey its the truth! World is not all Rainbows and Virgins...

Come to think of it are there any VIRGINS left in the world or can we declare them an extinct species. Let me start a thread for this.. :D
