eh...

that happens to me sometimes when i am speaking in a formal setting (like a speech etc). i usually stammer over some words and try to cover it up with different phrases or words.lonewolf wrote:Covert stutterers do not substitute every word in the sentence, they only substitute difficult words.CtrlAltDel wrote:i guess i am a part-time covert...

actually no. I've over come most of my stammering problem on my own. Still some of it remains tho...especially in a formal meeting. But I have found that the best way to overcome it is by confronting it head on.lonewolf wrote:PWS = person who stammers.
Do you go to therapy?

In a way. Most of my stuttering went away after I confronted situations I dreaded the most. Like presenting a seminar, speaking to a senior person at the work place etc.,lonewolf wrote:Thats interesting. By taking it head on, do you mean jump into speaking situations?

what abt. u?

asli_badmash wrote:You know.. to be honest.
I dont know if people consider going to therapy a fav past time here... yes people stammer but they live with it. Kids stammer but getting into that engineering/medical college is more important than trying to get rid of your stammer.
Going to therapy about anything is not such a big fad with us Indians... but I welcome the thought that I can sit with people who stammer and try and understand their problem.

asli_badmash wrote:Lone wolf are you trying to increase awareness about the program or trying to sell it.
I can understand your passion.. but how many PWS people in India would attend such sessions. I dont know!!

asli_badmash wrote:OK.. let me spell it out to you.
Why do people in India need to go to these sessions? Try answering this for Indian people and Indian attitude in mind and more so Hyderabadi attitude in mind. Since maybe you want this group in HYD.

asli_badmash wrote:Dont be so hostile brother...
I was asking you the same questions people ask when you want to start something. Starting a group and making it run successfully means you ask these questions and answer them. Lets be practical about it.. if you want to start a group you have to have people in it. It just wont be you.. right! Cause that would be funny!![]()
asli_badmash wrote:Anyway if you want to start a group in HYD, then you have to not only understand the people in HYD you also have to understand their priorities. And if you want something to run successfully in HYD.. then you have to cater to those needs.
I am sure you have done your research.. I just thought I would help you out. But do think about it... Its good to be passionate about something. But starting something and making it run is a whole different ball game.
