abt Sati, it evolved as a practice among warrior castes coz they felt they had to protect their women folk.

What do you mean by only in certain warrior castes..did the warrior castses get attacked every time a woman's husband dies..or only the wife of the dead man was put in the pyre or the whole women is the caste were put in the pyre of one dead man we are talking about SATI here that happens when a husband dies and a wife has to be burnt alive in the same pyre amid the chantings of the hordes of Brahmins praising the KALI surrounded by thousands of low caste worhippers ,this is how arranged things would have been in an emergency /crisis kinda scenario,if SATI was to protect the women(read to please KALI Maa..Kali Maa mangti hai Bali ) it must have been to protect the women from her own kind who would have turned her into a Devdasi a Sex slave for the whole village town, who lives in the temple which is still being practiced..and what warrior caste is in Bengal...Bengali fish eating brahmin warrior caste..what caste that it was so prevalent there that a great reformist like ram mohan roy had to put an end to it.. and here are you guys trying to blame others for SATI.. making yourself look more stupid then I thought

only cerayin castes used to practice it, ie, the warriors - rajputs, thakurs etc.

they are the priests. brahmins never practised Sati.

warrior castes are present in all regions. who said only north india had warrior castes? for example, in AP, the Rajus are a prominent warrior caste.

if u read what i posted carefully i never blamed anyone...in fact i am admitting that this evil used to exist in hindu society, and who had been practising it.



btw, do u know that Sati was not followed in ancient times. its more a medivial custom, more prevelant in northern parts of India.

The differene, DQ, is that I dont take offence when someone points out deficiencies in my religion or the practices. Not just me, most hindus dont and thats why yo usee hinduism evolving over years and surviving even after 5000 years and numerous invasions.

Now that the discussion has taken a interesting turn, MM din get a answer to this, What about the Dowry system, is that prevalent also due to the Hoarding Muslim armies.
