the new version also has a powerful MPFI engine, bucket seats and power steering :D the tiny niggles still remain but it has changed for the better...

abt its shape...thats the USP of the Amby esp in the export markets (yes, its exported too and is bot by fans of the old/classic cars. i saw on TV a few months ago abt a Brit importing Ambys for his taxi fleet and redoing the interiors as a 'royal' car (like the palace on wheels train)
wtf? i no longer care if my posts hurt yr feelings

It is being used as a 'Taxi' in UK. Isnt it just sad that state-of-the-art Indian engineering is being percieved as a 'relic/classic' in western society? There is no excuse for HM to continue the Amby line. May be they can continue selling it as a 'classic', but amby cannot and should not be mainstay. I dunno whatever happened to the Indegenous SUV that HM was planning to introduce.

Looks same :? except for those porsche like slant headlights.

The design looks ok...

the pblm. with the old companies was that they did not introduce new models. instead they made improved variants of the same product, remember all the 'marks' from ambi? but then it is a fact tht to get a new design approved by the authorities it took a whole lot of time.

Thye new ambi is not for mass production. i read the new MD of the saying that it will on b sold to tourist companies and major hotels.
People are crazy, at times are strange. I am locked-in tight, I am out of range.
I used to care, but things have changed.

That was during the quota time akhil bhai. Even a minor design change needed approval from the central government. But it all changed after the liberalization. Whats stopping HM now?

it is being sold as a classic in the export market (like the Bullet) but as long as the indian market (taxis and govt. fleets) exists, they might not change the shape. at best they can diversify like they have done by introducing the Mitsubishi brand in Inda.

It was not in any news site, someone with inside knowledge posted it on a forum.
