thats not a V-Tec in the picture Ar!e$....its just the old first model of City when they started out in India. the V-Tec has distinctive macho double-barrel chrome silencers and bigger tail lights (similar to the one on the later version of Honda city - the one before the current model ie).

about Lancer, its a decent and comfortable car, but woefully underpowered compared to others in its class (City, Baleno, Corolla etc), the diesel model was pathetic...the power to weight ratio was bad and as a result the acceleration was lousy. HM came out with an 1.8 power version of Lancer last year but i havent seen any on the roads yet. come to think of it, are Lancers still being sold? where the hell is the showroom in hydbad anyway?
@Lucifer....what gr8ness u saw in Premier Padmini anyway?
u sound like those who go on trips of nostalgia whenever any of the old things are mentioned...sentiment ruling over hard reality! after having driven some cool wheels, if u claim PP as the best ever car u have driven,
i have serious doubts about your driving ability.

Me drove a pre-1950 Fiat. The baby was soo powerful that we never had to use the first gear!Lucifer wrote:I am finally going to put this debate to rest here. Among the many cars that I have driven (NIssan, Honda, Indica, Maruti 800, Esteem, Subaru, Ford 4x4, Mercedes) the bestest of the lot is the good old Premier Padmini 1100. Nothing beats it in terms of the closeness between man and machine. It takes quite some skill to master the car, and not everyone can drive it. But once you understand the mood of the vehicle, it is among the most blissful cars to drive.
So what if you need to check the oil and the water each day? What if you need to constantly monitor the brake fluid levels? What if it might take more than one turn of the ignition to get it started on a cold day? It is still a beautiful baby.

Then there was our Premier which we bought for 14K n converted into gas.

anyone remember the Premier 118NE...? even that sells for peanuts now!

yeah...it was much better than the Padmini, but unfortunately it was also technically backward and had to compete against cheap, hitech and better models.akhilis2cool wrote:it was good car though. see a lot of them moving arnd. in hyd.

The back seats are somewhat uncomfortable. But still, it be a very nice car with a good top speed.CtrlAltDel wrote:yeah...it was much better than the Padmini, but unfortunately it was also technically backward and had to compete against cheap, hitech and better models.akhilis2cool wrote:it was good car though. see a lot of them moving arnd. in hyd.not to talk abt its turning radius, which was larger than a trucks!CtrlAltDel wrote:same case with the Contessa...it was one of the most comfortable cars and even looked like a mini limo..but look happened to it...it has an inefficient and archaic engine and for its price (abt 5 lakhs) anyone could buy a superior car.
