The ashes are here...lots has been said since the beginning of the year...and know what its worth every word of it if the first session of ashes is anything to go by...aussies are 5 down and 3 of them has bruises to bear testimony to their shaky stay in the middle...it was high quality cricket with the pommies just bullying the aussies...

I enjoyed every bit of it including the smack ponting got on his face - from Harmison - with blood woozing out and the physio trying hard to put up a brave face...It was almost that ponting would be stitched on the field...all the while Harmison was looking at him as though saying "fat gayi kya theri"...the aussies looked anything but invincible during this passage of play...they were nervous, edgy n scratchy

But the phenomenon has just begun...hope the quality of cricket remains high...Gilly at the crease now...IMO if I had to name a single fella who might make a difference to the series this is the man...

I cant put in words the joy I expirienced when i saw him take all those wickets, not because I am a fan of his but because I hate the english players and the commentators who always amplify englands small successes out of proportaion.

Its inded sad to see former gr8 players like Ian Bitham and Bob Willis failing to present a neutral opinion on the happenings, they seem to be more eager for success than the english team itself!

^^^

yeah wat u hav said is absolutely right...that comes naturally to both the poms as well as aussies...and BTW did u forgot one Mr. Rameez Raaja or for that matter Amir Sohail

Watever it is ..but it was the test cricket of the highest quality. From a neutral point of view, I really enjoyed aussies hopping all over the place. I think having a 4 pronged opace attack (i mean pace) can trouble even the best in business.

AFA McGrath is concerned obviosly he bowled well, but the poms played him badly as well. They were leaving balls which they shud hav been playing all the time and allowed McGrath to get over them. But that is the confusion McGrath puts in ur mind-wat to play n wat not to play.Aussies still hav got a pblm with the woefully out of form Gillespie.

All in all, it was a great day yesterday. But the average score at lords tends to be a bit higher in the second innings than the first...

u cant compare rameez raja to ian botham :x he is even worse, i mentioned botham coz we were discussing abt. the ashes. Its the frustration of having lost badly to the aussies that is getting to the english commentators. It makes a bad watching expirience though.
And as for the aussie commentators, I can safely say that they r the best in the business.

no mention of how bret lee made them hop around?

thats the way they have always played him. they cant play him!!!

aur abhi to bhaiiya shane warne aana baaki hai.

and remember the englishmen will b batting last on a drying pitch.

Thats how most of the teams, including india, respond to such situations.

BUMP!

That was a thumping victory for australia!

The englishmen exposed their inability to play warne and mcgrath, again. its amazing to see that even after playing them for more than 10 years the englishmen cannot find a answer to these two.

The next test will b important for botht the teams. according to nasser hussain england bounce have comeback strongly after loosing the firat test of a series in the last one year.

I doubt they will do it this time tho...

yeh australians toh series ka poora mazaa kir-kiraa kar diye. Same old one way traffic. When half of the top/middle order does not score in both the innings, the result should fairly be obvious :)...Ian Bell looked like a walking wicket really in both the innings...

8 dropped catches that too by ppl like pietersen n flintoff was "roooobish"..Even geoff boycott's mom wud hav caught the Flintoff waaala catch :P

IMO England top n middle order shud rise soon to prevent england from sinking further..Warne n McGrath r going to torture them to no end...But the weak link in Gillespie remains...

THe aussies hav risen upto the ocassion dont they luv thumping the english in the aussies!!!! Their bowling is lookin very potent jus tat their batters shld provide them wit a decent score to defend and they will win the ashes wit like 3-1 or 4-0. Englishmen bowled well but their batting needs to wake up to the challenge.

Hope they can strike some form. Only thn we hav hav an evens - evens series..........

Well, the englishmen have some time on hand before the next game begins. May be they can regroup and make some plans. Their bowling atrack is good. The batsmen really need to workout some strategy to handle warnie...he is the main threat.

None except for Australia themselves have to gift the 2nd test for England to win. Australia seems to be unstoppable with the bowling attack they have. Its only Mcgrath now...will have to wait n see Warne bowl.

Dropping thorpe was a big mistake and now that he has announced his retirement the selectors will have a tough time finding a replacement for ian bell.

Yeah Akil bhai..With his kind of experience Thrope cud hav made a difference...But now ppl are turning towards Paul collingwood...It seems hes got runs for Durham...

Another problem for england is ashley giles. i think English strike bowlers are doing well...but the problem is that they are also being used as stock bowlers n hence getting tired..It is so important for the spinner to bottle 1 end up which giles was not able to do...Even his filthy over the wicket outside the leg stick tactic isnt working against ppl like clarke...So plenty to think for england in that dept...

BTW Langer said it right ...English batsman were living in a coffin against McGrath n Warne :D

Thats right crypt. It looks like they just forget how to play when Mcgrath and warnie come to bowl. I hope they work something out otherwise, as 3Tz says, watching 5 games of aussie domination will spoil all the fun...

BTW I dont know when the India WI SL series is beginning
