Soon in Hyderabad

by nuggette » Fri Jul 22, 2005 3:30 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm a 23 year old french girl and i'll be living in Hyderabad for about one year, from September to August 2006.

I've never been in India but I'm thrilled to come to Hyderabad which seems to be a great city !

I'm looking for a job there. I'm a graphic designer, for the Web or for Print works.

I'd like to meet some Hyderabad citizen and chat with them before coming there.

If anyone's interested in speaking with me...

See ya !

Hello there!!!

As CAD said, Hyd is one of the most Wonderful cities to live in. We hope that you like it here :). Good that you came to this DB, you will find many friendly people here, as you might have already seen from CADs post. We FHites keep meeting every few weeks, so you will most surely meet some FHite with similar interests.

Hope you find a job soon. Me also is confused, are you coming here on a job search, or for some other work?

Thanks everyone for your nice words !

It's great to see such a great web community : I'm glad to be a part of it !

First priority to prepare my stay in Hyderabad is to find a job there.

Does anyone know names of big communications societies, english speaking, which would employ graphic designers?

Thanks !!

All foreign nationals definitely need a work permit to work in India...which u wud get if some company here sponsors you. that is the standard practice worldwide.

i do not know if Indian law provides any other way to come n work here. u have to contact the Indian Embassy in your country for more details.

You can probably contact Alliance Francaise for more details about what to expect, culture, jobs and legal procedures in Hyderabad. They have a lot of information for visiting French citizens.

welcome on board. Indeed, Hyderabad is a great place with an intricate mix of east & west. Hyderabad is best known for pearls, biryani ( best of the hyd cuisine) and ofcourse irani chai (yeah, persian culture had lot of influence in Hyd's history)! Places to visit in hyd include as ancient as Golconda fort and as new as Imax center. Places to hang out range from benchmark dhabas to happening pubs. On the downside, be ready to face the hot summers and bitter traffic.

Hyd recently evolved as Hi-tech city (AKA second silicon valley of India after Banglore), so getting a tech job should not a tough deal. Although India has over a billion population, there is still lots of room for foreingers and are warmly received.

Cest le mon hyd! Bon voyage (trying to use my long forgotten french :D )

I am sure your inbox must've been filled by now with PM's from 'friendly people' who want to help you  (If one of them is from a person called RAJ, delete it immediately)

If you didint get any pm's yet, you can use the shout box to chat with any postor who is online at that time or you can join one of the yahoo conferences that we frequently have.**

As for work visa, I believe it is fairly easy to get a work permit in India because not many foreigners would be applying for those. atleast not yet. The only problem is that the Indian embassy in paris may not know what forms to fill if they havent done it before  YOu can contact one Mr.Markus crazus dopus aka MARK who is Irish and has worked in India. He might be able to help you.

** I think we should start a seperate thread on which we can post whenver there is a YM conference on.
May the Fries be with you!
