Sharjeel wrote:Y1 is good. Maybe you use the web-based chat a lot and this makes you get a lot of msgs from 'psuedo-users'. Also, check your signature to see if it contains some spurious code for Ads.

@yahoo.com doesnt sound formal actually...I prefer gmail when sending formal mails...else i use my corporate id...kk wrote:Neither did I!! Personal Y! mail account is most reliable and agreeable except for the ads at the end of the message. I dont want to send ads when I am sending a formal mail.

Yahoo had ads back then(before gmail)?kk wrote:
What if you have to send formal mails and you dont have any corporate ID (say when one gets fired and has to send applications, not that I went thru any of it). Not everyone can afford to pay for maintaining their own email domain. Yahoo does not sound formal neither does hotmail. But people had to use them in the past when gmail did not emerge yet.

thanks for the links man.kk wrote:good point! but gmail is still in its beta version... I would not make it as my primary mail account yet. I trust gmail team, but a beta is always a beta - prone to bugs/ hacks.

Well the examples about sending job applications in the previous missive are just instances where one can one resort to use yahoo for formal mails. To give you another example, I once had to send a formal mail thru Y! (yeah when google did not exist) to my boss on one of my errands when I could not access to my secured corporate email server. And on my return, I was recieved with a surprise that I belong to a community where marriages are arranged! No wonder Y! does a good marketting! I 've used Y! for years now and am thankful, but if they are not going to get better then its gonna loose free/ cheap/unfaithful customers like me
