Like most things, I like my coffee black - no sugar, no cream. But has to be made right, with just the right amount of the right coffee in water at just the right temperature.

I simply love the chococinno of CCD - espresso with a scoop of chocolate icecream...smells of coffee, tastes of chocolate and coffee, sweet in some parts, bitter at others... :P

I guess so.

On track: I noticed a lot of Coffee Day shops when I was in India last year. When did this Coffee Day chain spring up?

My dad and I had quite a number of cups of coffee at Coffee Day, and on the last day I had 5 cups one after another. I wanted to drink more, but we were getting late for the airport, so I reluctantly said goodbye to the owner and left.

Back here, Starbucks is expensive, and I go there sometimes.

My favourite coffee spot is Sirius; I'm not sure whether Sirius is local to DC or is a chain. Most of the employees are Jamaican or Hispanic.

Yesterday, one of the employees asked me where I was from originally. I said "India", and he said "Oh, we have Indian coffee. Would you like to have it instead of the regular coffee-of-the-day". I said "sure!!" and he took me to the area where they were crushing Arabica coffee. I told him "This is Arabica coffee, not Indian coffee". He looked confused and had the "Aren't they the same?" expression on his face. I immediately added, "Arabica coffee is from the middle-east countries, and India is a separate country in itself! Arabica coffee tastes closest to Indian coffee though, so I'll have a cup. Thanks". He probably thought that India was an Arab country, especially since I work in an Arab organisation and wear tshirts with Arabic inscriptions when I go to Sirius.

Tomorrow I'll show them how to make filter coffee, and try to make them get Brooke Bond Red Label filter coffee on their menu. They already have Assam Tea and Darjeeling Tea; I've not had any of their teas.

I'm actually trying to give up on drinking coffee, and as a step in the right direction, I've stopped buying Bru Instant coffee at home. Nothing comes close to Bru and I don't feel like having too much of the other brands except hazelnut. Also, a small bottle of Bru instant coffee powder costs $8 here while others like Nescafé cost only $3 or $4 a bottle. I've noticed I save quite a bit when I decrease my coffe intake, especially when I stop going to coffee shops :P

The coffee at Coffee Day was good, but the cups were small. Maybe its because over the last few years, I've got used to the American large size cups, also known as mugs.

You can buy roasted coffee beans in most major stores like walmart and grind them at home.

Coffee shops like starbucks also sell coffee beans in airtight packets which can be grinded in any of their shops or grinded at home.

Yes, they sell them in the coffee sections in many places. You weigh and buy the beans, and either get the stores to crush them or you grind/crush them at home. Sometimes I eat a few beans while in the stores.

I tried making fresh filter coffee with the traditional steel filter my (late) grandmother gave me, but ran out of patience after a few rounds; it would take 45 minutes to brew one round of coffee decoction.

but is nt a plunger supposed to give the ebst results as compared to filter or boiled coffee?

and any of u tried the columbian coffee makers? the ones they place water on the bottom, coffee in the middle porous section to collect the vapours in the top chamber. it is kind of similar to steam distillation. tastes alright.... (me not a great coffee drinker). i dont know if it is any similar to Indian filters as my family was never a big coffee drinkers. we prefer cheap liquor
