FIVE SHORT CHAPTERS ON CHANGE :D

Chapter 1.

I walk down a street and there's a deep hole in the sidewalk. I fall in. It takes forever to get out. It's my fault.

Chapter 2.

I walk down the same street. I fall in the hole again. It still takes a long time to get out. It's not my fault.

Chapter 3.

I walk down the same street. I fall in the hole again. It's becoming a habit. It is my fault. I get out immediately.

Chapter 4.

I walk down the same street and see the deep hole in the sidewalk. I walk around it.

Chapter 5.

I walk down a different street

That the author of the article is a good-for-nothing loser who can't find a job, a business or even a girl. Has become so dejected by this uselessness of his that he decided to go fall in a hole in his sidewalk again and again and again just to write an article about it.

There, those were my views.

I think you should cover up that hole so that others do not fall into it, too.

The hole represents the void, the empty space inside us all, the meaninglessness of life. We try to confront the void head-on, we believe our souls are big enough to fill it, however all the tears ever cried would not be sufficient. We then try to fill the void with clutter and junk, meaningful nothingness, we flail our arms around trying to splash as much life as possible into the stale colourless air, mini-gods of our own rotting worlds. We then try to ignore the void, to walk around the black gaping chasm as though it didn't exist, focusing on the day-to-day tasks of survival. Finally we retreat to the only man-made object big enough to fill that void, God. We grab God by the ears and physically insert Him into the void, we suspend our disbelief and logic, we put common sense on hold, we ignore the facts, the figures, the reality of the situation and stick the worlds largest band-aid on the worlds largest wound. Then we write some self-referential get-out-of-jail-free clauses, ensuring that the validity of our solution can't easily be questioned by people who are still busy falling into holes in the sidewalk.

this thread reminds me of a Jack Hanley quote AR showed me one time

"Ambition is like a frog sitting on a Venus Flytrap. The flytrap can bite and bite, but it won't bother the frog because it only has little tiny plant teeth. But some other stuff could happen and it could be like ambition."

But if the Venus was smart, it would have used it's little tiny plant teeth on the frog's err..ah..umm. IF a frog has one. That would be like using available resources, but then this is not the point Mark's trying to make. The point was about ambition. What was that again? Oh! err... anyway...

hehe, i guess the point is the futility of trying to velcro a point onto an otherwise pointless story. so the moral of the story is, don't do drugs.
