Hi,
Going to buy a TV & Fridge today. I was wondering if it's neccessary to buy a Voltage Stabilizer for them - I know it's not neccessary in B'bay - is it neccessary in Hyd? Or is it just a way for the shops to add some extra sale?

Thank you. How much does it cost? Any particular brands you recommend? Is it neccessary for each & every electrical appliance in the house? i.e. will I need one for the computer? Will I need one for the Mixer

sorry i donn have any idea abt brands...a UPS is sufficient for ur PC i guess... mixer doesnt need also... it is necessary for TV, REfridgirator.....

a stabilizer is needed for expensive gadgets like TVs, Fridges, Music Systems, DVD players etc, but not for mixies n grinders.
for the PC get a good 20 minute UPS. that usually includes a voltage stabilizer.

If you are really cheap or you have faith in the Electricity Dept., then you can get by with Spike Protectors, or spike patties in street speak.
A voltage stabiliser will range between 1500/- and 5000/- depedin upon the rating.
Get a servo stabilzer as they are better regulators, and cost just a little bit more.
Methinks you only need a Stab. for your Fridge, and a UPS for the PC. Rest of the gadgets you can put on spike patties, unless they are extremely expensive and/or prone to damage from voltage fulctuations.
Hyderabad electricity is very good, though and you will seldom need ur UPS or Stab.
