Pardon me ignorance, but what are you'll talking abt?
Things are supposed to happen the way they happen. And the reason they happen the way the happen is because you try to make them happen in a certain way and may or may not be succesful.

You can log into your Yahoo! account faster with GAIM than with the official Yahoo! messenger client. BTW, I'm talking about the GAIM client for Linux.

Yes :) I used to use the .deb Debian version of Yahoo! Messenger for Yahoo! and aMSN for messaging on MSN but once I discovered GAIM, its GAIM all the way :D It lets me log onto Yahoo! and MSN messenger at the same time.

And oh, aMSN and GAIM let you know when the other person has closed his/her chat window :D

You can also find the IP address of the other person if you use GAIM.

Nice! I just saw your website. You're from IIT, so I'm not surprised you're using Gentoo :) How many hours/days did it take you to install Gentoo?

Here it is:

 http://gaim.sourceforge.net/downloads.php

If you're using Windows, the first link is for you.

If you're using Linux:

Debian, apt-get gaim will do the trick, and for Gentoo users, emerge gaim. I forgot how it is for rpms (Mandrake and Fedora/Redhat).

best way for rpms is to install synaptic

its a front end for apt-get

2 days is really short for a newbie! I use XFCE; it works best on my AMD64 notebook. I have Debian 64bit and thats the only one other than Gentoo 64bit that works great on Compaq Presario R3000 series.
