Ok, don't think anyone's posted comments comparing Hyd Central (HC from now on) to Spenser Plaza (SP) in Chennai (that was the OP's request, right?)



To start, they're VERY different in almost every way, SP is a huge shopping mall, HC is a medium sized department store. SP is expensive (but negociation is allowed in most shops) HC is extremely expensive.



SP is the sort of place you could hang out for a few hours each weekend and not really get bored of it for a good while, HC is pretty boring after the first few times.



Really it comes down to size, Spenser Plaza is huge and pretty varied, HC is pretty small.



Downside of SP is the amount of hassle from shopowners to come in and see their stuff, however a swift kick to the testicles usually pursuades even the most persistant of Kashmiri's that you'd like to be left alone. Also a lot of the shops just sell the same items, so to track down the best bargin you need to explore a lot (and it really is huge, i've been there roughly 20 times and I'm still discovering little shops down hidden passages). But I wouldn't go to SP (or HC for that matter) for the bargins, go there because everything is under 1 roof, and it's a reasonable place to hang out.

Hyd Central,Conceptwise is better than Spencer's in the Sense that you can Roam around Freely Without any Hindrances (like Walls for Instance) and then Pick up the Item(s) that Catch ur Fancy (& If u can Afford it).

I Think Very Few People (Read the Filthy Rich) Come over there with the Express purpose of Buying a Particular Product(s).Most of the Crowd's Just Window Shoppers or Casual Loiterers(Like Me!!)



In Spencer's One has much more variety I think.Central is all about Brands whereas Spencer's Is About the Shopping Experience as a Whole I think.

Yeah the layout of HC is definately good for encouraging easy shopping and impulse buying.



One frustrating thing about Spenser plaza is the constant feeling that you're missing something. Unless you are very methodical, you're not even going to walk by about 50% of the shops in the place (assuming you spend 3-4 casual hours there).

Nope.Entry to the mall is Free.

Only the Multiplexes have tickets.That too 100+ on Weekends and 65+ on Weekdays

I went last april and the theatres hadn't opened then but my uncle and aunt went abt 6 months back and told me abt it.

ya...they're the PVR Gold Screens. They also have "Europa" screens where u are supposed to get some snax free, but u r just given a plastic sachet of nimbu paani and soem cold samosas n popcorn.

btw, the PVR coming here at Central wont have Gold or Europa screens...and i think its opening very soon coz Central is now installing a permanent 'PVR' signage at the front!

I Went there on May 31st and Only Loitered around the Ground & First Levels.

Did'nt Go Up2 the PVR.Hence Might have Missed it.
