hi ppl ..im new to this site ....

ok now about this topic i think the enfield is a good bike..great for touring and all and yes the newer avl models have got alotta style...but thats that...never like riding my cousins thunderbird..its wierd..im a 2st guy used to riding bikes that alotta u guys hate like the RD350 , the RX135 and the shogun...enfield is very heavy, works more on inertia ...no powerband ...but like i said its a great bike for touring...and hey bimbette if u wanna get a high outta riding a bike..ride an RD350..quite a few of them in hyd..my friend recently picked up a bone stock RD (LT) in excellent condition frm there for about 30k...the RD350 is a crazy bike...speed specs of a good condition RD :

0-60 (under 4 sec)

100 (under 9 sec)

top speed of a stock RD350(HT): 160km/hr

top speed of a stock RD 350(LT): 140+km/hr regarding the shogun and the RX135 if you go for the speed run ull see what they are capable of doing ...at the bombay and bangalore speed run modified RX135 were going faster than stock RD350's at 160km/hr+ and at this years speed run a shogun timed the 400m section in close to 14secs beating a ferrari...

maybe the driver wa bad but still it won..and 14sec are excellent for a 110cc bike!!!

about karizmas their fastest time was 17sec in the 400m!!!......btw a thunderbird (i believe due to the results of three races that i had with a friend who owns a karizma) is a little faster than the karizma

so in conclusion the older bikes that were released a decade ago are better that the crap that todays motorcycle companies are manufaturing in india...buy a fast 2 stroke bike (like the RD, the rx or the shogun) ..blow money on fuel but get ur daily fix of speed if your a speed junkie but alway ride safe and wear a helmet

CHEERS!!

MMTS - as a cheap and efficient means of transport.

by Naveenji » Wed Jun 08, 2005 10:04 am

:o

Guys, let us talk about a public transportation system like the MMTS.

MMTS is very close to a METRO. Hyderabad will certainly get a metro

in the near future :!: :!: :!:

Have you guys ever travelled in a METRO :?:

METRO is always a better solution than any other means of transport.

It is fast, cheap and very efficient and non-polluting.

well unlike mumbai the railway network is not that gr8 here. there are very few railway stations arnd. here. thats why the buses rule the roost.

well that is because of the shape of the city

mumbai is a long thin strip

so 2 lines cover everything

but here the city grows in all directions

not too easy to build a rail network

best thing to do is to run them in 2 loops

thats prolly the best way

and as the city grows they can keep adding more loops

and btwn the lops they shud run busses

and ofcourse one pass shud work for both buses and trains

i am not sure if METRO will work at this point of time

metro works well where it takes 2 hrs to get out of downtown traffic

but here jams last hardly 10 mins

the roads are wide enuf (compared to other cities)

and the culture of this city is diff frm others

u find ppl from all sections of the society travelling in a mumbai local

but here thats not the case

my frns here in cbit prefer to carpool and go to coll rather than take a coll bus

this is a very cheap city to live in (i mean that everything is cheap and not otherwise)

so there is a lot of disposable income left with ppl

and it looks like ppl are spending it in cars and bikes

as someone pointed out before

its hard to spot scooters these days

Motor Bikes have swarmed the roads here and they drive recklessly, ofcourse they cannot mtach the rickshaw walla in drving recklessly.

but apart from that the roads are in good shape and the traffic isnot that bad. but they have to plan ahead. areas like Chader ghat and punjagutta choke up at rush hours. uska kuch to karna padta :!:

Veera Buses Are My Preferred Mode of Communication. But at the Peak Times (9AM-10AM & 8PM-9PM) They are Choc-a-Bloc.Almost a Hundred people cram into a single Bus and There's no Room Even to Breathe!!!

One Thing I've Noticed in Hyd is that People in Cars are Averse to Giving 'Lifts'.I have 'Hitched' a ride many times in Bangalore & Mumbai but in Hyd,I could do so only Twice (Once on a Tractor!!!)

i think they are planning and have done well with the planning part in the past 6-7 yrs

FYI there is a outer ring road commin up

that shud be reaady by 2007

and the construction of metro begins in 2008

if u compare the traffic here with b'lore or mumbai we are way ahead

there are traffic jams in front of the intl terminal in mumbai 12 at night

ofcourse i do believe that the current bus network can be improved by better mamagement

i see 3-4 busses with the same nos one after the other

the YSR govt. is useless. over the past one year they have done nothing commendable. In naidus regime laying of wires on road sides used to take 1-2 days only.

but now it takes a few weeks!

there has hardly been ne road widening done in the last one year.
