MMTS Local train... how does it fit??

by Naveenji » Tue Jun 07, 2005 5:47 pm

Guys,

I currently work for a software company in Hyderabad.

I am back to Hyderabad after a long gap of 3 yrs. Well 2 yrs well spent in Seattle and 1 yr in Bangalore.

I have recently discovered the MMTS local train. It is just amazing.

It is blazingly fast and covers miles in no time and it is priced reasonably well too...

Let me know what you think about MMTS and do write about your

experiences....

never been on an MMTS :)

but the service is good for ppl. coming to hyd. from the outskirts. The localites, however, prefer the bus service.
People are crazy, at times are strange. I am locked-in tight, I am out of range.
I used to care, but things have changed.

That's true

by Naveenji » Wed Jun 08, 2005 9:48 am

Yes that is correct, unfortunately there is no direct road connecting to Hi-tec city from that station, it is only from Hafizpet.

So I guess if any gets down there, he might have to face some music.

Are you sure that they are laying a road down there....

There Already is a Road Connecting JNTU to Hitech City. But That Starts from Miyapur ( A Further 3 Kms Down the Road Frm JNTU).I Suppose U Ain't Talking abt this one but Another One,Right?

That road leads all the way Past Shilparamam over a Railway Track.

i am talking abt another upcoming road starting adjacent to JNTU, going via Malaysian Township, Hitech City Rly Stn, NAC(HITEX) and joining the road from Miyapur before Shilparamam. a flyover above the railway trax wud also be part of this road.

Rail Board seeks nod for MMTS 2nd phase

by Naveenji » Tue Jun 14, 2005 9:41 am

A proposal has been forwarded to the Railway Board a few days ago by the MMTS authorities seeking approval for the implementation of the second phase of the project.

Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has already accorded his approval for the second phase. It has been proposed to run trains on six routes under the second phase. They are: Secunderabad-Medchal (28 km), Falaknuma-Shamshabad (20 km), Secunderabad-Ghatkesar (19 km), Moula Ali-Sanatnagar (21 km), Moula Ali-Kachiguda (10 km) and Telapur-Patancheru (8 km).

The total cost for implementation of the project in the second phase is Rs 324.08 crore. Of this, two-thirds (Rs 216.53 crore) would be borne by the State Government and another one-third (Rs 108.27 crore) by the railways.

The works would start immediately after the Railway Board sanctions its approval for the second phase. Two new railway lines would be laid for the project. They are: A third broad-gauge line from Secunderabad to Ghatkesar (19 km) and a 7 km-line from the proposed Shamshabad International Airport and the Shamshabad railway station.

RAKES READY: The MMTS rakes are already available for introduction in the second phase. While orders were placed for 18 rakes to Integral Coach Factory, Perambur for the first phase, currently only nine rakes were being used. Nine rakes are kept ready at the ICF and they would be brought to Hyderabad prior to the launch of the second phase. Each rake would have six coaches and would be able to accommodate about 2,000 passengers.

MMTS Timings

by Meghdoot » Wed Jun 29, 2005 12:45 pm

Hi Guys,

Where can I find the MMTS timings on the net? any specific site you can guide me to?

I stay at Nallakunta (near shivam road) and work in Cyber Towers. I was thinking of using the MMTS to commute, as in the rainy season, there is no point in using the bike, and autowallas will fleece you! can you believe, the few times I have gone from Nallakunta to Cyber Towers, the meter has ranged from Rs. 98 to Rs. 120! Shocking, but true!

Any help about the MMTS timings will be appreciated!

Thanks

well...if u wanna use MMTS to get frm Shivam to Hitech City, u can get on the falaknuma-lingampally MMTS from Vidhyanagar Stn or reach secbad by bus/auto/MMTS and take a Lingampally MMTS to Hitech City. btw, since u cant reach Hitech City from Hitech City Rly Stn. (!), u have to use the Hafeezpet stn. u can get shared/normal autos frm near hafeezpet stn.

i dunno abt MMTS timings on the net, but u can visit the Vidhyanagar Stn (nr yr house) and check it out.

Good to hear about MMTS.

I hope the companies that employ people should encourage their folks to use this. Definitely MMTS will help reduce the congestion of traffic and pollution too ..

thats good

i think the govt. needs to do some hard sell now

the few buses that are running must be dropping ppl at the MMTS stations

and the extra rakes that have been made for the phase 2 shud be put to use now

i read somewhere that if all the rakes that are available are run there will be a train every 5-7 mins

its the best way to end the RTC monopoly and once ppl get used to the new system many will stick to it

That's really good point.

by naveenji » Tue Jul 05, 2005 12:02 pm

Good point fl !!!

This is the time where people realize the importance of MMTS and

start using the service effectively. People can get rid of RTC and

depend out MMTS. People will now realize that it is a time saver

and very comfortable also.
