Well, I never thought I'll do this, i.e. speak up for Mallika of all people...but from whatever I have read about her and also through the three columns that she wrote in Hyderabad Times about her stay in cannes, Mallika is definitely not an indiot. She has just chosen which part of the audience she wants to appeal to, and she sticks to taht formula, it is actually a well thought out strategy.

She pretends to be slightly stupid, because she knows how to market herself...all she wants are guys drololing over her...er..assets  and not get distracted or threatened by her intellect. She is actually pretty well-read, and can act ok, so maybe we should give her due credit for her role in that Jackie Chan's movie...and also for disproving the fact that all Indian heroines are either prudes like Ash or Intellectual like Nandita and other Art-movie heroines...
Yeh heard she's from DPS RK puram  ...was married and got a divroce too...

why not them? u oppose them coz they are Indian actors?

Exactly, glad you asked that question CAD...

Well,My Gripe is that Since they're Doing Well Enough here, why to foray into this kinda 'Global' Arenas.I Don't Despise them as actors, not at all but i Somehow Find them too 'Indianised' to be playing a Decent part in a Hollywood Flick.

I hate to repeat all the Oft-Repeated Stuff but Whatz the Lure in Hollywood that Everyone is hankering to be a part in their movies.Agreed that Indians are getting recognised there and are getting Substantial Roles. But not many Indian Actors can Carry it off with aplomb.

IMO,Actors like Om Puri,Naseer,Shabana,Saeed are in a'Different' League than Amitabh,Hrithik n Salman.......

The Latter Should Stick to what they are best at and not Foray into some Razmatazz and make themselves Look Stupid.Look at Ash's Pathetic Portrayal in BnP.

And Right now when most actors are Crying Themselves Hoarse about the 'Globalisation' of Bollywood,'International Recognition' Blah Blah.....The least thing required is to have two of the biggest Icons in Bollywood, play Jus' Li'l Cameos which they get Jus' as a precursor to their 'Stature' and not Due to their Acting Skills.

I Can Imagine what kinda Role an 'UN Secretary Gen' will have to play in a Star-Centric Movie like Rambo.I hope Amitji refuses the part.

ycr, u yrself said that "they are not classy enough" and "There are Many Non-American Actors who can Essay those Roles." and topped it with "But why Them,Of all people????"

those comments indicate u think they are to low to act in Hollywood.

whats wrong? :?
ycr007 wrote:i Somehow Find them too 'Indianised' to be playing a Decent part in a Hollywood Flick.
are they trying to play whites or blacks? in that script, Amithabh plays an Indian and Hrithik plays an afghan who are racially same as north indians.

$$$$ and global recognition.
ycr007 wrote:But not many Indian Actors can Carry it off with aplomb.
if the producers who are investing millions felt that way they wudnt take such a risk in a big budget movie like this one. obviously some ppl in hollywood feel differently.

how can u assume they wud be stupid. again, it looks like u think they are beneath hollywood.
ycr007 wrote:Look at Ash's Pathetic Portrayal in BnP.
she shudnt even be there in indian films. :x

firstly, the two roles are not l'il cameos. according to that script, hritik is the second lead, with a heroine opposite him and well choreographed fight scenes. BigB plays a small but important role, a role that is significant enuf to be included in the script.

secondly, they havent acted in globally visible films that ppl sign them for their acting skills. the producers have to take the Indian public's word for it and go on stature for now. it is also a cool marketing strategy since BigB's name is a good draw in S.E Asia, Middle East, and Africa where he is idolized by the locals too. everything wud have been considered by the producers.

from the script it seems clear that Hritik impressed the producers in Mission Kashmir and Fiza and they deemed him suitable for the role. that kinda takes care of yr grouse about the 'acting' part (since he doesnt have any stature yet).
wtf? i no longer care if my posts hurt yr feelings

i think half the credit of good-acting goes to the director. So I dont expect hrithik to be too bad if he's in the hands of a good director. And about aishwarya rai getting projected as the face of india :x :x Ahh.. I hate it !!! why dont common guyz like me have a say in this matter
