Grandma's back to Basic

by Bombayite » Thu May 26, 2005 1:25 pm

Hi,

I am new to Hyderabad. Out of all the restaurants, I have tried till

now, I have liked best Grandma's Back to Basic's (located

at Banjara Hills). Particularly liked their menu choices of South Indian

Preparation of chicken, fish fry etc. I am looking for more such

hotels in the city.

Any recommendations?

Which of these restaurants serve South Indian Style Fish Fry?

I know Southern Spice won't - it's a veg restaurant :-)

Some of the restaurants I went to (not on this list) serve only

one type of fish (Moral - they called it, I don't know what is the English/Hindi name for this fish). And they had it prepared in North Indian style.

I liked Grandma's because it had many different fishes on the menu - Pompfret, Lady Fish etc & they cooked it in a south Indian style.

BTW, you have listed Tabla as a north indian restaurant, but they also

serve some south indian Kerala dishes on their menu.

Southers spice is not a veg restaurant AFAIK.

BTW from the above list the best south indian food is served by Malgudi. Try there appams, bisibeli bhat, natukodi pulusu, kheema biryani etc.... they are simply superb :D :D

Southern Spice is NOT vegetarian.

try Fish Land, Coastal Spice, Copper Chimney for sea food specialities.

Tabla is a multicuisine joint like most other places i mentioned. i have catagorized them based on each restaurant's speciality. f'rinstance, u do get the roti-naan-paneer stuff at Coastal Spice, but if u visit that place i wud recommend Andhra food.
