Previously I too used to see Boxes on Win 98.Thein I Installed Unicode Support and some Hindi Fonts and now am able to see them.Only Win 2000 and up have inbuilt Unicode support i believe.So the Hindi is visible to all xcept akhilbhai,i think.
And there's Tamil n Telugu Supprt too but I think not on Win 98....
I can't see the Hindi on Internet Explorer 6.0 on this old Windows 2000 computer at work, but then I've not bothered to install any explicit font.
I can see the Hindi fonts on Firefox on my Debian GNU/Linux and IE 6 on Windows XP at home. I did not have to install anything extra for it.
Hindi support is probably enabled in "newer" browsers by default, but not the other languages like Telugu and Tamil. I see Telugu words as junk characters/boxes.
