WORSHIP ART

Image

A new way to look at art...
...a new way to see God

Our Mission

We seek to show you how you can experience the presence of God in the world's great art, in the hope that this will enrich your relationship with your Creator. ...

Vincent van Gogh: Starry Night
Have you ever seen a real night sky that looked like van Gogh's Starry Night? I hope not! So why would an artist paint the sky this way? Perhaps I can answer that with another question. When you're happy, why do you sing instead of speak? Or when you're in love, why do you speak of roses and honey? When we do these things, we, too are artists; we're using something that goes beyond a mere clinical, scientific description in order to communicate our feelings more powerfully than straightforward words can. So consider for a moment that van Gogh might not have been hallucinating on the night he painted this. Maybe he felt something so powerful that he had to go beyond the familiar to express it.
Image

"Starry Night" by Vincent van Gogh ...

Looking at this painting, I imagine van Gogh in just such a moment of despair, when he is struck by the memory of one of those amazing night skies. He recalls the sense that he is not alone; that there is a living, infinite, loving God who sees us and knows us by name. A God whose awesome creation reminds us, sometimes, that He has never left our side.

And so the sky swirls across the canvas full of vitality and power that speaks of His presence. The stars don't just sparkle; they explode in radiance. Looking closer, we notice that the earth itself seems to respond to the movement in the heavens, forming its own living waves in the mountains and the rolling trees beneath them. In the sleepy village, the windows of the houses glow with the same light that illuminates the universe. The church steeple in the center seems to struggle to point to God, who is so alive in this scene. But the little church is dwarfed by the cypress trees at the left, which seem to capture the joy of the inhabited creation around them by erupting in a living flame of praise.

What a tremendous message of hope there is in this masterpiece! Even if our troubles persist, the world around us assures us that God has heard His people cry, and has acted to calm our fears, heal our hurts, and dry our tears.

That's what the angels sang about. Doesn't it make you want to sing, too?

WORSHIP ART : Vincent van Gogh - Sunflowers

Image

Vincent van Gogh - Sunflowers

Not everyone is swept away by the beauty of this painting. And even if you are, you may still find it difficult to see how it could be worth well over 50 million dollars. But it is.

Van Gogh was one of the first artists to focus so fully on using color to express emotion. And in none of his paintings was the message less subtle than in this very, very yellow one.

To van Gogh, yellow was an expression of joy and contentment. So part of the power of this painting is the great hope embodied in such a gloriously joyful expression from one whose life was so full of disappointment and despair.

But there’s more than mere happiness here. Van Gogh wrote that this painting was also about gratitude. And what a beautiful symbol the sunflower is, of an outburst of joyful thanksgiving. All day long the sunflower turns its face full into the light, as if in worship. And all day long its praise is rewarded with sustenance. This exaltation in leaves and petals begins buried in the cold and darkness that echoes our own moments of despair, but it springs forth in jubilation and reaches faithfully and enthusiastically toward its maker.

Van Gogh has cranked up the intensity of this exuberance by collecting fifteen sunflowers into a single vase. The celebration bursts onto the canvas with such profusion that the vase and the table and the entire area glows with the radiance of praise.

Some people will pay millions for a painting. But when we express our own praise and gratitude to God, He values that more highly than anything man has ever made.

Join me as we bring our treasure to God.

"I strive to capture the ideal that surrounds us in my paintings. The color and light on a subject are the relationships that interest me and spark my creative energy. I want to push the edges, inspire the viewer, and live the experience... For me, it is the process of my work that is the essence of why I paint. I find he texture and fluidity of oil paint to be very sculptural…the paint itself is celebrated and brushstrokes are not only visible to the viewer, but also intrinsic to the success of the piece. Each painting is a wonderful, new discovery of a chosen subject through its shapes, colors, and movement." - Anita Mosher

Evergreen Fine Art : Elizabeth Ahern
Elizabeth Ahern's paintings reflect her affinity for nature and light. Through her travels and contemplation, Ahern selects her palette and creates from memory her interpretation of place and time in her abstracted works on canvas. Her portrayal of nature reflects her observations of design and color, natural pattern, and the layers beneath what can be seen on the surface. Ahern's interpretive paintings are a visual interplay of light and color, based on her many experiences and introspections.
"The ideas for my paintings come from a compelling desire to shape the abstracted memory of landscape, in terms of the spirit of the place and my relationship with nature. I am fascinated by how memory, contemplation, and imagination alter imagery. My work reflects my personal memories of specific instances of light, color, space and time, and how those elements affect and change each other." - Elizabeth Ahern

Evergreen Fine Art : Linda French

Evergreen Fine Art : Linda French

Evergreen Fine Art : Linda French

Mysterious beauty constitutes the substance of Linda French's art. Using the canvas as a method of translation, French transforms her exploration and perception of the ancient cultures she studies into a unique combination of clarity and obscurity - chiaroscuro.

Linda French has always had an inclination towards art, and attended schools to further her interest in the subject. Her style of painting is influenced by the color and application of the French impressionists; this combined with her interest in contemporary artists such as Georgia O'Keefe and Mark Rothko illustrates the continual evolution of French's painting style. Linda French's work embodies an intellectual nature, interpreted from her continual observation and isolation of potential subject matter. She vibrantly and boldly chronicles the changes and movements of subject and thought in her magnificent works on canvas.

"My canvases have become abstract. I still use very deep, rich colors, but I have added many more neutrals to my palette over time. Of course there is a lot of thought involved in this style of painting - I sketch, take notes, study, but when I begin to paint, I let it flow and then commit to what I am going to say. The style of painting - letting the magic happen - excites me and keeps my passion for painting alive."

Evergreen Fine Art : Pem Dunn

Evergreen Fine Art : Pem Dunn
Pem Dunn's paintings are a clear reflection of his love of the out-of-doors. From the rim of the Grand Canyon to a fields of Colorado wildflowers to his own backyard in Evergreen, he creates scenes that look as if they were a place into which one could step. Hiking the backcountry trails of the Rocky Mountains provides much of his inspiration. Dunn's interest in light and subtle nuances of color brings a great deal of richness to his work. A keen observer of nature, Pem Dunn is intrigued by clouds and changes in the weather. His early career as an airline pilot gave him numerous and interesting opportunities to make these observations. Dunn has studied with some of the finest painters known today, and has developed his painting into a truly wonderful style.

"No matter what I paint, there is always 'something' that is like a period that falls at the end of every statement", says the artist. "There is always some sort of connection that evokes feeling in the viewer. My work has a wide range of subject matter and moods - moods which wear humor, whimsy, sensuality, serenity, excitement, sadness, femininity, and happiness. To me, life is a range of experiences that hinge on our state of mind. Moods alter our perceptions on the same situation on different days. The common thread in all of my work comes from these moods and manifests itself in the form of color and design. The placement of elements and their varying shapes and sizes make the perspective of the piece. The color, treatment of light, and figures all interact to evoke emotion."

"The name GreenArtPrints was chosen most obviously as being representative of the artist, Michael Green, a true visionary in the tradition of Leonardo da Vinci, but more importantly to underscore a commitment to the documented cultivation of our higher human potential.

Green is the color most often found in nature, and represents a subtle vibrational aura noted by those drenched in divine communion. These rare illumined beings are the harbingers of our true destiny and call us to the "table of lovers" as spoken of by the Sufis. Michael Green's art work is in the manner of "the pointing finger", meant to celebrate and illuminate the sacred message of these great ones of all traditions.

With that brief introduction, we welcome you and hope you will enjoy the evocative, beautiful and deeply spiritual images of Michael Green."

'Anime' Cool Art

Image

'Anime' Cool Art
To me, anime style is a fusion of perfect line art, solid colors and specific features like huge eyes and weird-colored hair. I don't draw very many humans (at least not yet-- it's a work in progress), so I apply my anime style to fantastic animals.

I usually create the art for my characters first, then make up a story to go with them afterwards. It doesn't seem to work if I start the other way around (story first, art later) because there's too much pressure to think of a good character design.

Usually my characters with narrow eyes are serious and down to earth, while the ones with the big eyes are quirky and bubbly. See if you can guess the personalities of the characters in my gallery...

Rain art is a method of application where no direct contact is made with the support. Paint of various wetness and mediums are applied from varying heights. Ground layers are allowed to dry to some extent, then additional paint until desired abstract effect is reached.
