i miss hyd

by scorpiouno » Tue Apr 12, 2005 10:52 pm

hey guys

i was reading thru this post when i realized yet once again how much i miss hyderabad.

ok. for those of you who didnt know, ohri's is a chain of restaurants. havmore is the name of the restaurant on the ground floor. as you all know, there are many restaurants in that building - metro(underground), chinese(on first floor), etc. there are at least 2 of those owned by ohri's; i dont remember which ones other than havmor.

and we think that ours is the spiciest food! we are wrong. chinese is the spiciest food. what we are served back home is not totally chinese. its the Indianized version. anyway, i may be mistaken and there may be places that do serve the actual chinese stuff...

Back on the topic---

Lets not make this into a odd food combos and where they are available thread :)

Thai || Cinnabar Red || Banjara Hills || 400-500 || Tom Yam soup, and other stuff.

Andhra || Fortune Katriyas || Somajiguda || 400-500 || Their thaali is amazing and so is their hospitality and ambience

Continental || Blue Nile || Somaiguda || 500 || They generally have buffets, not with so many varities like you typically have at Viceroy Patio or at Green Park. Works for coz I wouldnt overeat.

Buffet at Green Park is quite a deal especially the desserts.

Angeethi, totally the place for those who trip on Panneer, Butter, and Masala(Punjabi food), They too have a lunch buffet on weekdays - definitely, Value for money! Less than Rs 150/- per head.

its delicious! it looks like a pista ice cream, but once u swallow a mouthful, u feel a mild and pleasent "chilli" sensation....but dont worry...wudnt make u scream and rush for a glass of water.....

tyr it once....sometimes its available only in the "Tadka" section on the first floor (indian cuisine).

The other day I went to Hyderabad House. It was the most overrated Hotel in Hyderabad. The biryani was so bland and the typical hyderabadi taste was missing.the salan or whatever he gave eith it was also so bitter that i left it as it is.the panner was ok.but what made me really sorry is that the kurbani ka meetha, which was supposed to be a special treat is really bad.it was nothing but khajoor in sone kinda sauce with some yellow stuff all over it.i really did not like it.

It was real pity that I did not visit the site and check out the beautiful suggestions you people have given.i would not have gone to the bad hyderabad house had i seen here that no one has mentioned it as a real good hotel.but my roommates who were living in hyderabad since sometime were very praise of Hyderabad House.i dont know what did they like in that hotel.maybe since they were non vegetarians they might have liked the chikan and mutton biryani but I am a vegetarian and the vegetable biryani was not very good,to say the least.

KKK you excluded me by those first few sentences...

No problems Betty.I listened to my roommates even if they were non-hyderabadis.but as you say that you are a foodie(Like me) your inputs would surely help me.but i heard that girls have a smaller appetite and gentler taste buds than men so your choices must be noted and whenever any family member is to be taken out for dinner, then your advice must be followed.
