Doctrines

by lizard king » Wed Apr 06, 2005 10:48 am

just came across these lines while reading the Gita, thought they made sense, in the everyday life of every indian, and the way we see religious tolerance and universal brotherhood, and probably, the only religion which does nt preach and convert.

"Whosoever desires to worship whatever deity (using whatever name, form, and method) their faith steady in that very deity. (7.21)

Endowed with steady faith they worship that deity, and fulfill their wishes through that are, indeed, granted only by Me. (7.22)"

These lines should be shown to everybody! Especially those who thinks that religions preach (religious) intolerance.

Thats pretty tough alright. i guess non-vegetarians kill hundreds of animals each year to meet their diet, there's no real difference morally

what shall i explain? if u are talking about my intro to those lines... i will.... ya, from what i understood from these lines, put the religion part aside, culturally, we do have to agree the spine of the indian culture is based on this book, no matter what religion u belong to or which god u pray to. it is an undeniable fact. ya, if muslims hate christians and christians hate the jews and jews hate the pagans else where in the world. and this hatered is based manily on religious grounds, but it is quite different in india, where hindus pray in a mosque, they visit church and the muslims celebrate indian festivals, eat prasad and the same with christians too.

but about the lines.... i dont know.... i did nt write them, u got to ask Vyas what he actually meant.

something is missing all the time San, if everythig had an answer, we would nt really believe in the concept of god or religion. only if we knew the answers for everything. I really wish we did.

Well, cannot keep a lady waiting, can I? Especially San who always pushes all the right buttons on me. ;)

Yes, the ultimate answer to the ultimate question of Life, The Universe, And Everything is 42. But that does not mean that it is the answer to everything. There is a huge difference between the two. Is there not?

PS: Still waiting for that cup of coffee...
