for the sake of avoidin another postin of a long tedious msg tellin us how we shud respect the sentiments of intelligent and valuable newbee posters to the boards... i shall discontinue...

i see nothing wrong with the mods removing my swearword post, but (and mods if you follow my posts you'll know i've never gotten on your case before) editing what i write without posting [edited by mods to remove swearwords] is really a strange move. i know you didn't change the content, so i'm not particularly annoyed, but it'd make more sense to remove the post if you don't like it, rather than rewrite my words im a much milder sense than i had intended.



i will try not to swear from now on if thats what you want, but a little consistancy would be nice.

Thanks, Mark. We enjoy reading your posts. It's just that we do not allow certain language on the forums. As for mentioning that the post was edited, we generally think that it would not be a great idea to mention that a post needed to be edited, as long as we did not change the meaning.



It would be a comprehensively misguided supposition that fullhyd.com's moderators think of any situation as fullhyd.com vs. the users - a presumption that appears to be the motivation for threads such as this. fullhyd.com is the users. We try so hard to attract and retain users, it would be preposterous for us to even think we are judges of any kind.



What interfering we do is to keep these forums dignified so our users keep coming back, and so we attract new ones. Very few people would feel motivated to post on forums that do not have a certain etiquette about them. As part of this, we would never permit any situation where any user is commented upon personally.



We know few forums that would allow a thread like this to be on. That's because we are not overly concerned about what is said of us. We are very concerned about what is said about our users. We are loyal to our users since they patronize us. Which is why, even if we are having issues with any user, we write to him/her first, unless it is egregiously violative. And banning is an extreme, regrettable step.



This is also the reason that whenever a user is attacked and there is a delay in our responding (we are beefing up the moderator team), we write to the user apologizing for it. Some regulars here have experienced that.



We wrote to the lady is question here, too, and she was quite easy about the whole thing. We found that she is a student of what is widely considered India's most prestigious law school, on the city's outskirts. We feel proud at the spectrum of people patronizing us, and one of the reasons is that we keep fullhyd.com an extremely dignified place.

First of all it was never a feeling of "users vs Fullhyd" that was the inspiration behind this thread. I was just pissed and wanted to rouse a rabble. Moving on....1 honest suggestion I would give Fullhyd.com is dont try to increase the userbase by moderating the forums. No casual visitor to a website ever takes them or the ppl in them seriously anyways. If you really want ppl to come and stay here get a grip on the content.

The content here is kinda pathetic if you catch my drift. Not in quality but in quantity. The homepage is modified only about 5 times a week. Once for every movie review. And this is a portal claiming to be Hyderabad's number 1 and probab the country 3rd best city portal? What city portal only has movie reviews? Where are my special events and exclusive interviews with famous Hyderabadis? Where is the coverage of some of the events that I havent been to? Where are my recipes, my album ratings and special offers on clothes and books?

Fortunately or unfortunately all this is available on the discussion boards. Does this mean that Fullhyd.com is offering its boards as one of the reasons why people visiting the website should get addicted to it? Doesn’t say much about the website does it? If you have content that changes and content that can actually hold its own in inviting viewers to the website then the user base will definetly spike. It is sometimes depressing to see that there are only about 30 regular visitors to the DBs (atleast from the look of it) in a city of around 7 million. There’s only so-far that word of mouth advertising can take you. You have to set up a few hoardings or posters at the back of the autos if the situation calls for it.

Just a few random thoughts.

Excusez mois if some of ze ideas are basic MBA stuff or if some ideas are redundant because of some basic MBA funda



1) Create a superb and funny bumper sticker and give away a few for free.

2) Put up aforementioned bumper stickers on the mirrors of bathrooms of all major restaurants and watering holes.

3) Tie up with Monsterindia.com to create a truly exclusive job listing instead of the data entried one right now.

4) Same thing with matrimonials. Bharatmatrimony or shaadi.com maybe.

5) Interview famous Hyderabadi's (doesnt matter if he is only a gatekeeper of Chiranjeevi's house or Tea maker at Alpha)

6) I know some of the figures of your tie up with Alleygator (friend of friend of friend told me) and I think you should tie up similarly with more stores.





Any other ideas that ze brilliant MBAs and Advertisers here can think of?
