there are rules?!? yeah traffic's fairly nuts at first. in my ideal society, everyone would own a gun. therefore politeness would be essential.

Hyd is not that bad when it comes to Traffic Snarls....

There are worser Jams in Mumbai,Delhi & even in Bangalore.

Just that the Traffic management here needs tuning up.

Asu experienced,a few individuals mar the entire driving experience.

And No true-Blue Indin will drive in the demarcated lane until he is a

foreign return.

Maybe it is due to the laidback attitude of the law-enforcers here.

I remember while in bang,i was fined 500 bucks for "Touching"

the Yellow line at a red light. But here in hyd,No cop cares abt it

basic courtesy

by jatt » Mon Mar 14, 2005 12:58 pm

eevn the basic courtesy is missing..

people cross u from wrong side and honk all the way and then glare at you as if you were breaking some "rule"....they seem to be in soem sort of hurry...and then just a minute after they cross ...you find the car parked just 100 meters ahead... !!!!

no indicators.......no signal for u turns......man this place is craziest i have been to

the guy who bumped my car from behind was trying to jump red light from wrong side !!!! call this the height of stupidity..... and then blamed me for "stopping" at the light !!!

wow !!

i have lived in delhi and mumbai .....but traffic is never that bad...

and pls donot categorise all "indians" in same league as some stupid fellas...

my experience :- hyd drivers are buffons and need urgent psychopathic help and traffic su**s

agree with the Jackel, the traffic is excusable but the manners are not. there are some real _ on the road. four wheel drive guys really get on my nerves, they pull up behind you in slow moving traffic, and beeb at you to get out of their way! as if they have some god given right to be ahead of you! bizzare.

One of the Chief culprits of the Traffic Chaos are the APSRTC Buses!!!

They stop wherever they want and hold up traffic. Also I feel the Timers

at the signals should be done away with. The ppl start revving up their engines

at the count of 10 and speed away as soon as 5 appears. They don't wait till 0.

If there were no timers, they wud wait until light turns green. Also the police

need to be more stricter in punishing the law breakers.

Another Big Big problems cause are the Autos & Seven Seaters.

my take on worst drivers...

1) bus drivers...

2) green cab drivers....they overspeed and never signal

3) bikers....they mess up things big time with triple seating and zig zag stunts

and yes...hyd should do away with lights..build flyovers all over..that is the only solution

I Agree.....

Most of the Traffic Signals have a 180-300 seconds Stop limit on them

and the traffic onthe roads too is not that free-flowing.The Autos almost all

are CNG and the Emissions literally made me puke :?

Traffic etiquette too is not that prevalanet there. Most ppl will shout something

at u in Kannada and go away.U r left wondering did he praise me or Curse at me????

i feel the need to defend bikers. the only reason we zig-zag is that _ car and bus drivers pull out in front of us. the average gobshite in a car has no idea how much more difficult it is to slow a bike down than a car. try juggling between two different brakes on a sandy/wet road and see how you get on when people are pulling out from all angles. if other road users stuck to their lanes then we wouldn't have to zigzag.

ok true, but bike riders are at much higher risk than all other road users, so we get a little nervous sometimes.

what i find hilarious is the stupid bastards who wear helmets but throw the strap over their shoulder! definately from the shallow end of the gene pool. i can imagine the last thing they see as their skull caves in being their useless helmet, lying on the ground beside the remains of their head.

I agree on the traffic problems. But is is manily because there are still a lot of 2 wheelers in Hyd. In places like Mum and Delhi, you wont notice th dangerous conditiosn, because we are generally coccooned in a 4 wheeler.

hahaha... reminds me of an incident.

We had a 87 model chetak, fairy good engine but all other accessories (like brake, head lamp, horn etc) missing, so I was reluctant to drive it.

Then my friend did a 'gyanopadesh'. He told me, "you either need a brake or a horn to drive a two wheeler. Your bike has none, so you have to drive carefully" and showed me how to drive a scooter without brakes :P

I was enlightened. Since then I started driving at nights without head lights on, preparing for an emergency situation where I have to drive without headlights :)

You can do that only in Hyderabad, I tell ya.

Cut the crap man, the traffic sense is almost the same through out India,by no means is the traffic in Delhi or Mumbai better than Hyderabad, I have seen taxi drivers in Delhi racing beyond 100 mph on the roads with in the city limits scaring the hell out of people, not to mention the pollution its just unbearable ..

I didn't know people were dead already in hyd :) [ Heaven is here ], anyways talking about traffic in hyderabad, I would agree people don't have sense here, so it is at most of the places but in other places you would see traffic police doing their job decently well, here I haven't seen police regulating the traffic, and if you are lucky someday and got hit by something [small or big] don't be surprised to see the other fellow shamelessly smiling at you .. as if nothing happened. Somany times I and IMFB lost our cool and went ahead and hit the other fellow, because of traffic violation and shameless smile ...
