There are very few wrestling fans in India and I'm surprised to find one here.. Yeah wrestling has a philsosophy wholly its own. I still watch wrestling and follow it religiously.

I like most of the wrestlers on that list and would like to add The Rock, Roddy Piper and the whole nWo.

The present gen of wrestlers are pretty exciting too though the lack the technical ability like some of the wrestlers mentioned above.

I miss the Monday night wrestling wars.

To all those who diss wrestling........do you know why the Oscars which are usually held on Monday evenings shifted their telecast to Sunday evenings?

They were scared of losing viewers to Monday Night Raw and WCW Nitro.

oh i just remembered a couple more Yukozuna,Bam Bam biglow,lex luger(im not sure whether i spelt the names right),diesal,...ah those guys were fun to watch....even though everyone knew it was made up it was fun to watch...these days its so clear and its almost like watching a show Hindi serial with tag team matches in between :roll:

.....but im sure for hardcore fans it still is fun ...i use to love watching the royal rumble....

I use to play wwf raw on sega (yeh i knw its silly compared to the games now)like almost everyday once upon a time

a female wrestling fan is very rare kiddo...u r an endangered species!

tho i am not into WWF etc., my brother and a cousin were crazy abt it and used to spend hours glued to the TV...(not any more, they've grown up!)

i had read about a wrestler of Indian origin in US...seems he's creating waves in WWF/RAW whatever too? ever watched him in action?

hehe, in Ireland we only had 2 TV stations growing up, and neither of them would show wrestling. my brother and i had to rent videos (usually of wrestlemanias from previous years. I think the list of wrestlers Akidna produced was pretty much the latest i've seen. Remember Super Fly Jimmy Snuka? that guy was tiny.

I'd disagree with you Jazs about the technical skills of the current generation, i've seen it occasionally and the atheletics and acrobatics have gotten better (not as convincing but that's cos i'm not 10 anymore)

His name is Tiger Ali Singh........he was in the WWE more than 5 years ago.

He had the usual "you-americans-suck" storyline. THings didnt work and he isnt there anymore.

Another wrestler called Sonjoy Dutt is presently wrestling for smaller independant federations. WWE takes people with lots of wrestling ability and personality and mic skills. He's just a rookie.

Mohammed Hassan is a wrestler of arabic origin (or so his story goes) and he's in WWE right now. His story is that he was born and brought up in the US and after 9/11 people are acting as if he's an outsider. Now he's out to teach ppl a lesson.

Mark, I agree about the high flying manouvres and hardcore stunts (talking about fighting with ladders, chains, barbed wire) have gotten better, but the fact that the wrestling has beome unconvincing is what I'm referring to. I have olders Wrestlemania videos and while watching these you'll grimace at the sight of a simple Drop kick, because it looks very real.

I used to watch WWF but not anymore.

There are couple of indian wrestlers on the scene. One is the Killer Khalsa(?) - the canadian indian guy who acted in Hollywood-Bollywood, and the other is one Mr.Manoj kumar something from banglore who recently (like a year back) got into WWF.

What'r talking????

I've been watching wrestling regularly and havent seen these guys. Either their character is being developed at Ohio Valley Wrestling (WWE's training facility) or they developing their in-ring abilities.

Another theory is that they could be the guys who'r coming as Mohammed Hassan and his sidekick.

Thats another misconception.......wrestling isnt a sport where age is a factor......its part acting-part athletics so having an average fitness is enough. There are many wrestlers in their 50's still wrestling. Terry FUnk and Ric Flair are an example.

Shawn Michaels is only 40-something and very very fit. His mic skills are good and he still wont shy away from shedding a little blood now and then.

Before the WWE of today, most wrestlers came into the WWE only around 30 years of age.

ABout the wrestlers you asked HHH is happily married to WWE's owner's daughter and calls the shots (he's always the champ).

British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith died a couple of years ago.

Kane is doing well.....he recently signed a movie.

Papa Shango, Vader, Bam Bam and Tatanka are all still wrestling in independant federations.

Getting back to topic.......a long time ago I was watching wrestling while stoned. It scared me a bit.

But more importantly I was formulating many theories about the struggles of man and the numerous battles he has to fight to be able to survive in life, sometimes resorting to cheap shots, sometimes egged on by external motivations etc. It was really cool.

We all know that everything in the fight scenes are fake. but we still watch them again and again. There's atleast a level of reality in this one.

and helps A win the Fight,......Immedietly the Next match is between

C & B.....

Also all this play acting with the mike,horrendous expressions,Finger-Pointing

etc look too much shammied....

I havent seen the khalsa guy on WWE, but I have seen his pictures on his site. Google for Khalsa + WWE.

About the other guy, he was featured in BBC a year back as a gentle giant who tears telephone directories with hands and twists metal rods. In that article he said that he signed for WWE and a couple of months back I saw him in the ring. Hassan is a real Arab with the arab head gear and all.

i can understand that..but to consider it a serious sport is taking things too far...

y'know india used to have a great follwing of such 'staged' wrestling upto the 50s and early 60s. my grandfather was a fan of Dara Singh and used to attend his "shows" where he used to fight many free style wrestlers from india and abroad. from what he described, it didnt seem much different from WWF etc. everything we see now was there - hype, shouting matches, loudly voiced challenges, lifting n throwing opponents off the ring, jumping on opponents from the ropes etc

The Tiger Ali Singh I talked about earlier was a champion in the wrestling organization in India. I think its alive in Punjab even today.
