High Time I explained the anguish of a few movie lovers

We sometimes want some people to win oscars just because we've loved ome of their earlier works which never got recognized. Case in point was last year's Bill Murray who poeple rooted for because he was snubbed for Groundhog Day and Morgan Freeman who was snubbed for Shawshank Redemption. Some of these movies are so amazing that we worship them and enything else is blasphemy. Hence the reason for us rooting so loudly for Scorsese. We've grown up learning that this man is the greatest ever, and that none of those brilliant movies have got him an Oscar.

But dont you think he deserved that oscar after 6 nominations?Look at Sean Penn's award last year.Clearly his role in 21 Grams was much much better than his role in Mystic River. But he got an award for Mystic River rather than for 21 Grams. He was going to get an award last year no matter what because he has been snubbed many many times before.Dont you think the same thing applies to Martin? :? :? :?

And Scorsese is considered to be in the top 5 of all time with Copolla,Speilberg,Hitchcock Kubrick. And all of them got an award except Hitchcock.Right now he is one of the best directors because Speilberg is making only Blockbusters and all the remaining are either dead or they are not working.

Casino(No words for this movie,a true Masterpeice)

Raging Bull

Taxi Driver

Gangs of New York(Ok this wasnt such a nice movie, but still)

Goodfellas(See Casino)

Last Temptation of Christ(Where no director has gone before)

The Age of Innocence (Didnt see this movie but heard it awesome)

It just pisses me off. :x :x :x :x :x :x

Yep totally agree that he deserves an Oscar. That's why I thnk the Oscar's have become unreliable.......they either give Oscars too late or too early (Adrian Brody)

We can also take Hilary Swank as an example, she won 2 oscars at the age of 30.That should mean she is the best actress in hollywood but is she?*beep* no. :x

I haven't seen wither but have read reviews and feel that Aviator, being a

biopic, would be more favoured at the Oscars but it seems that the

Gut-Wrenching MDB was more liked by the jury.

Aviator's on ai Prasadz i think :?:

i saw the retelecast last night. the highlights of the show IMO were Chris Rock's jokes (esp political humor), Salma Hayek with her sexy...er...accent and Beyonce. another treat was Banderas and Santana performing together for a spanish song from "Motorcycle Diaries"

I liked Kate Winslet in her light blue dress. she was really pretty. And I was very happy when Jamie Foxx's name was announced for best actor. way to go Jamie.

actually i don't think Kubrick ever got a best director Oscar. So that's three out of your top 5 directors who never got best director. nuts, isn't it?

Oh yeah Kubrick got an award for Screenplay for 2001. :x :x :x :x :x :x

Yeah but dont you agree with me that these are the best directors of all time?I mean each and every movie they made are masterpeices. :D Of course there are others(as LK pointed out) like Oliver Stone,Ron Howard but clearly they arnt in the same leauge as the above mentioned directors. :D

I agree with LP, LK. OS hasn't got a thing on MS. I wouldn't include Spielberg in the list though, don't like the guy at all. For influence and power in the industry he's #1, his films are get on my tits though. What about including Leone in your top 5 and dropping Spielberg? Kurasawa's also great although i've only seen 2 of his movies he's top notch.

Even spielberg was working for 20 years, Jaws, The Color Purple, ET, etc without a best director, only got one for Schlinders list in 93 (yes i am reading this from a magazine)

anyway, its ten to eight and im still at work, my managers getting wary that i might try to nick a computer. just had my first warm shower in 2 months, bloody brillant!
