I was lucky enough to be in first row within a distance of 20 meters from singer. The only good one he did not sing was "Its probably me". Of course, I did not expect him to sing "Soul Cages" as it was written for his dead father. He sang almost none stop with just 1 minute breaks twice.



As Cameras were not allowed, many in audience used their mobile phone cameras to the fullest.



He will perform in Delhi on 6th Feb and perform in Australia on 10th Feb w The money raised will go toTsunami Relief. Sting is the first singer to perform a concert on Tsunami relief on Jan 13 in Bangkok.

I know this problem. It is high time to repeal this IPC 498A, which i sympathise that real suffering rural women, who do not even know, how to use it, whereas urban educated women are heavily mis-using it..



My solution to GOVT:

Introduce civil laws as soon as possible and modify this 498A making it domestic violence nominal criminal section(applicable to husband as well) as exists in developed countries..



Regarding DOWRY problem, make it mandatory to write in affidavit for all parties involved in side marriage for the financial transactions.

If undeclared, post marriage complaints disregard by law & order. Make law water-tight.



Take out this mental harassment clause completely from the DOWRY section, I guess, feminists fooled our lawmakers who introduced it.



Last but important...INDIAN MEN HAVE TO BELIEVE FROM INNER CONSCIENCE THAT, MEN NEVER DOMINATED SOCIETY. IT HAS BEEN WOMEN DOMINATING INDIA, WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING TO THEM ..ALL

The program was straight on how parental interference destroys marriage. In this episode it only talked about the first phase (pre 498a) of harassment and concluded saying "Now the girl's family will use the ultimate weapon...... anyway i dont think dowry is not a big problem anymore as in 10yrs ago. i am not telling its 100% gone, but its a lot better. most men are not looking for dowry, instead they are looking for a well educated girl who can work and help in finances. atleast that is what i noticed. i even know men who thinks taking dowry is a shame.

First, girls should try marrying down before asking any further questions. Then, we will look at the next problem. The next problem is not just EGO, it is hedonism. The divorces in urban india are due to this disease of Hedonism.



Is there a good counsellor network in India ? Is premarital counselling happening in a big way ? Are girl's or boy's family telling their expectations clearly before marriage ? In case of techies in Bangalore, Divorce rate is 25%.

The present version of Anti-Dowry Laws are existing since 1987. So, it is 17 years, not 50 years. In 1987, they shifted the burden of proof on the guy and his whole family including even uncles, aunts, nephews, grandparents.



The problem is not that it is non-bailable and non-compoundable.



The problem is that "There is no punishment (even fine) for filing a False Case."



The solution is to have a Screening Mechanism with a point system, so that at least utterly bogus cases can be filtered in the beginning.



We are certainly going to achieve this. We do not want dowry laws to be less stringent. We want them to be wider and flexible yet strong.

Four murders and 2 rapes in an hour

March 15, 2005 08:25 IST



Sixty fatal accidents, 10 culpable homicides, four murders, two rapes and one dowry death, all in one hour.



This was what happened on the crime front in India in 2002.



Apart from these, a recent report of the National Crime Records Bureau said, 59 housewives committed suicide every day, though the average male-female ratio of suicide victims was 61:39.



In its latest report, "Crime in India", the bureau says a total of 5,531,172 cognisable offences were registered, of which 1,780,330 were crime covered by the Indian Penal Code.



The rest were crime reported under Special and Local Laws, which cover 22 heads like gambling, illegal arms possession and prostitution.



Pondicherry reported the highest crime rate for all IPC crime, 447.7, which is 2.6 times the national crime rate of 169.5. It also reported 54 suicides per 100,000 people. The national average was 10.6.



Kerala reported the highest crime rate followed by Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.



As for crimes against women, Chhattisgarh reported 38.4 per cent of a total of 146,678 cases registered nationwide.



Among the 35-mega cities, Delhi accounted for 24 per cent (320 out of 1,312) rape cases and 34 per cent (759 of the 2,251) of kidnappings and abduction of women.



Delhi also accounted for 61 per cent deaths due to starvation and thirst.



Nearly one fourth of a total of 10,469 crimes committed against children were reported from Madhya Pradesh.



The report also said 19 per cent of all accidental deaths in the country were reported from Maharashtra and 26 per cent of road accident victims were occupants of either trucks or lorries.



Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state, accounted for 19 per cent of the total of 35,290 murder cases registered for the year.



The incidence of crime in Uttar Pradesh in 2002 was higher than that of Bihar in the same year, the report said.



As many as 6,825 cases of murder were reported from UP in 2002, while Bihar recorded 3,712 murders.



Likewise, 1,893 women were killed for dowry in UP, as against 927 in Bihar and 449 in Andhra.

I am not a fool. I do not talk in air. I use facts(which I am very much aware of), the same facts that you boldly presented.



Please, take a better look in the fine print how things are presented in a very biased manner indicating male disposability.

So taking the male to female suicide ratio of 61:39, for 108,506 people:





The number of men committing suicide: 66,189

The number of women committing suicide: 42,317
(Including dowry suicides)

Put in another way,

in every 2 hours 15 men are killing themselves.

in every 2 hours 9.5 women are killing themselves (including dowry suicides)



India is the only country in the world, where the suicide rate of married men takes a sudden jump of 50% where as for women it remains the same.



Suicide Rates are clear indicators of sense of well being. Given above statistics and resultant calculations it is proven than men have a worse time than women in general.



Dowry is a serious problem. No doubt about it. But the present laws do not help the real victims whereas they are tools of vengence in the hands of unscrupulous urban lecherous females to indulge in extortion. The real victims of dowry harassment are made to compromise at police station and simply sent back to be killed later on by in-laws.
