Hi guys,
wonder how many of you are watching Indian Idol. Its interesting how the show is being run. ofcourse the focus nowadays is the guy Ravindra Ravi - a painter by profession a singer at heart... much-hyped guy.. and a trap which sony has fallen into... or may be not..
this interactive television business needs people to waste their money apart from paying for the cable tv connection, to SMS their opinions on the people participating in the contest... worst part is that sony does not want to limit the votes like the indian constitution does, to one vote per person/cell phone.... which makes room for anarchy.. and ofcourse ringing of the cash registersa t the c ell phone companies... nice plan..
To add to this they got a scape goat in Ravindra Ravi .. (with or without his consent i am not sure) to increase people's angst at the utter stupidity of some ppl who r voting for him inspite of he singing terribly... tell me boss.. a painter from patiala having lakhs and lakhs of ppl voting for him, spending tremendous amounts of their hard earned money... inspite of his not singin too welll... doesnt make sense does it.. or the theory that the painter from patiala has geeks who have cracked some code to be able to send bulk sms messages to vote for him...
what sure makes sense to me is sony trying to create sensation and appealing to the emotions of ppl trying to save the other contestants who have been unjustifiably disqualified inspite of singin better than ravindra ravi.... and voting keeps increasing every time.. i am sure this theory holds... a scapegoat - thats what he is... helping sony increase its viewership...and telecom cos earning more money...
if it was a smooth journey of 10 guys and gals singing songs and one person goes out everytime based just on how well he or she sang that day... i am sure in a few weeks ppl will stop watching the show and wait for the final episode... but introduce an injustice being meted out and ppl flock to the show and take it as their personal responsibility to correct the injustice....
12 lakh sms messages at 3 rs per message - 36 lakh rupees in 3.5 hrs - that was the income of telecom companies of the country.... and i am sure it will increase with gullible ppl trying to stop some injustice which is a creation of the tv channel and the media companies involved..... enjoy the show.

its not 12 lakh - it was 25 lakh votes for the patriotic songs theme episode - 25 lakh votes worth 75 Lakh Rupees in 3.5 hours....wow... go buy telecom shares.... interactive television is here to stay...

btw itz not a new concept adapted by sony..I've seen the English..n even the Arabic version of it..n ourz is a xerox copy of em..inc. the sms bit..

one word summarization of Indian Idol : Crap.
Things are supposed to happen the way they happen. And the reason they happen the way the happen is because you try to make them happen in a certain way and may or may not be succesful.
