my two cents and then some:



1. be confident

(is this her first date too? - dont panic, be cool and always in control of the situation, preparation kills the anxiety (example: dont forget to fill you bike or car tank if you are picking her up, have extra cash with you)



2. dont have too many expectations

(esp since you mentioned that you dont want to lose her, dont set yourself for a bigger fall)



3. concentrate on having a good time and not impressing her

(like Crtl bhai said, not a big bunch of flowers, maybe some candy, go watch a movie and/or the sunset, whatever it is, keep it simple, it is safer that way, and she will be more comfortable when she is not pressured)



4. don't indulge in too much information!

(many do this on the first date to impress the other person - i mean i really dont want to know how your brother tricked you in third grade for some candy and you still saved him from some bullies the next day - family matters NO NO NO. its too personal and awkward. talk about mutually interesting things, school, work, favorite things etc)



5. be properly groomed and be presentable

(you do want that initial first impression - try that cologne or after shave, have mints ready (dont chew gum - that is considered rude at any point in dating the first time)



6. show common courtesy and be polite

(whatever you order, offer it to her first, or let her take the first bite of the food, dont start eating before she does. open the door, let her walk first, pay first etc etc)

since u r a student and therefore a potential member of FHDB Kadka Club, i'd suggest a movie date followed by an evening at Eat Street (assuming u can afford a movie and eat street like most college students). the best thing abt Eat Street is that u can spend hours talking and staring at the lake without having to damage your pockets



Payment: always insist on paying and pick up the tab. but if the girl strongly insists on going dutch, respect her individuality and accept it without a fuss (while silently thanking yr stars )



Transport: if both of you have seperate vehicles, suggest that she park her bandi somewhere safe and come in your vehicle. avoid too much braking if u have a bike and she's sitting behind u...girls can easily understand yr intentions



If she insists on travelling seperately on her vehicle, agree without a fuss.



If u dont have a vehicle and she offers to drive u in her's, dont make a counter-offer to drive it and take it as an insult to yr mardangi (i know a few guys who do).
