Sorry but I wanna HELP!

I am NOT telling anyone to quit smoking, as it is none of my business what people do with their own bodies, and I don't judge people for anything like that anyway. I am an ex-smoker, so I have no right to judge. I can, instead, empathize and relate. So this is for anyone who really does WANT to quit.

I'm sorry if anyone gets annoyed that I am helping this thread continue (a few seemed upset that it is even here in the first place), but I know that some of you are smokers and maybe, if I can help JUST ONE person.

I smoked for 15 years, a pack a day, sometimes more. I finally tried NOSMOQ, and I gotta tell ya: It's GREAT! Not everyone has had this experience, as one person mentioned, they had a BAD experience with the side-effects. But everyone's body chemistry is different, and I had NO side-effects whatsoever! And, of course, it's not a magic pill that will take away your desire to smoke. You will still WANT a cigarette, for awhile, out of HABIT, but the genious is: NO NICOTINE FITS!!! I have NO willpower, and it helped me quit! You take 1 pill twice a day for 2 weeks, then quit smoking, cold turkey. Just like that! You continue the NOSMOQ for only a week or more, and if you do so, you will have no withdrawals or weird side-effects from quitting the NOSMOQ, either! I have been a non-smoker now since March 28, 2000... for just 7 days NOSMOQ is an antidepressant, for those who don't know, about it if you are a smoker who wants to quit. It's gaining popularity for quitting smoking, and for one very good reason: IT WORKS!

Sorry if I sound like a commercial (I just realized it), but this is really my own personal experience, and like I said, if it helps JUST ONE person quit smoking, then it is worth it to me to take any harassment I may receive for posting it! My father died 2 1/2 years ago of a massive heart attack, and during the autopsy, they discovered that his entire body was filled with cancer (he never went to a dr.). He was a chain smoker for MANY years, and ended up dead at the age of 55. So there is nothing anyone can say or do to me to make me regret posting this, especially if this knowledge reaches someone who needs it!

I used to smoke 15 cigs daily. Now I hate to smoke. To my understanding people smoke when they have nuthin to do.

OK, I don't know if this thread is serious or another lame attempt at humour as was in the case of that OS thread that we had. But, this is a serious issue and I thought I should give my two cents to it.

I have never smoked in my life. Sure, I have had a puff or two but somehow I never got the whole funda of it. My dad, though, was a heavy smoker up until ten years ago. Someone just mentioned one pack a day. That is nothing. He smoked five to six packs (i.e 50-60 cigarettes) a day. I never saw less than two loaded packs in the glove compartment.

One fine day, he decided to give up. Just like that. And, you know what? He did not do all that slow quitting stuff. He just stopped altogether. From 60 to 0 in less than twelve hours. He has never smoked since.

The point I am trying to make is that all that gibberish about how difficult it is to give it up is just that - gobbledygook. If you really want to give it up, you will. If you don't and all you are looking for is sympathy from friends as they try to wean you off the habit, then you won't. The ball is in your court. If my dad could do it. I am sure you can too. Just stop being a sorry faced loser and give it up. It is not as hard as it sounds.

Lucifer! Agree with u completely. It's all about will power and one's own self control on his senses. And yes, to be frank, it's not a big thing at all to quit smoking or for that matter, anything else

Are you sure your dad gave up? My dad said the same till I caught him smoking on the sly one day. :D

j/k there.

Actually, its not true that someone unable to quit is being a sorry faced loser. And its really not all that easy as you make it out to be. According to you, all nicotine addicts are still smoking because they're looking for sympathy from friends. Not really. Physiologically, nicotine is one of the most addictive drug known to humankind. Add to that, its socially acceptable and readily available.

i have seen 2 ppl quit smoking with different methods. one of them always kept some cardamom with him, that he chewed whenever he felt like smoking. another similarly used roasted groundnuts.

...both successfully quit smoking.

i guess its just mind over matter, whatever medicine u use.

i also heard abt an ayurvedic medicine, that has to be taken with curd. its suppossed to create an aversion for nicotine in the smoker's body. i have heard its very effective but havent met anyone who quit using that. an unfortunate side effect of this treatment: some hyper sensitive users develop an aversion for drinking tea too, since tea has a minute quantity of nicotine.

My husband started to smoke when he lived in a hostel during his college years. After he came back home, he smoked when he chilled with friends very often.

After we got married, I strongly encouraged him to quit. And he did almost immediately. :D

He didnt need any miraculous "cure", thankfully. He certainly has will-power. And a lot of love for his wife, Alhamdulillah.
