* I have been an artist my entire life.
# Once I discovered painting on silk I was enchanted. I love the excitement of pure vibrant color. I sometimes feel like silk painting is a direct connection to the Divine in all of us. I enjoy sharing my love for silk painting through showings and teaching.
# The art of painting on silk begins with a luxurious base of pure white China silk stretched tightly on a frame. I use the combination of imported French silk dyes and a resist of Gutta (which is like a rubber cement), or sometimes I will use a hot wax resist. The purpose of a resist is to stop the flow of dye and create a barrier, which makes the outline of an image.
# One of the things that excites me the most, about silk painting is the purity and the intensity of color that can only be achieved by this unique technique. After the painting is complete I steam the silk for many hours; this sets the dye and increases the intensity of the color.
# The magic of painting on silk comes from the luminous images that emerge within the boundaries on pristine silk. I am always amazed and delighted!
# I hope you enjoy looking as much as I enjoyed creating.

Pillow Talk - 29 / 1 / 05 : Plane Warm Travel Blanket... Also, Useful As Pillow!

The idea of taking my own blanket on the plane, adding weight to my already overloaded carryon was not too appealing but then on a few freezing flights there were no blankets and on one plane they were in dubious condition. I packed in my carryon one of the Plane Warm Travel Blankets which are quite lightweight and roll or fold down well and it was wonderful. Not only did I use it on the plane as my blanket and at one point PILLOW, I used it in my hotel room as a throw and blanket supplement. I meeting more and more frequent travelers who always wear slippers in the rooms and remove the spreads from their bed before ever sitting or sleeping.

These travel blankets are made of ultra-soft poly that resists punctures and tearing, are flame-retardant, non-pilling, non-shedding, 60" x 40" and weigh 19 oz. After this last trip I threw mine in the washer and fluffed it a little in the dryer and its ready to go again although considered a disposable product.

Also if you're a person like me who buys difficult things to get home it is excellent padding for that great treasure!

I don’t sleep with a pillow. Some of you may find this strange. But for years now I have crawled into beds across America ... - fancy hotels, friend’s houses, etc. and no matter what the conditions are I immediately throw the pillow straight to the floor.

I often wondered why this was-why I was not in the norm until I came home for the holidays and noticed my bed was a minefield of pillow madness. There were enough pillows on my bed to host a sleepover for Snow White and the seven dwarfs.

When I lay down to go to sleep, I don't want to stuff a bunch of crap under my head to prop me up so my sleeping experience mirrors that of a stiff neck producing, upright snooze on an airplance.

People are crazy about their pillows...
